RoyalBlues 4,050
What has to happen for Bertrand to get WP?Unfortunately, thanks to new regulations. That will be not as simple as playing regularly for their respective NT.The new work permit rules, which apply across the whole Football League, will see prospective non-EU players given points for various criteria including the agreed transfer fee and wages, international caps, and the level of league and club they are joining from. The player must be an international from a country ranked in FIFA's top 50, rather than the top 70 as it is currently, and the number of caps required will be staggered depending on the country's status.Players from countries ranked in the top 10 will have to have played in 30 percent of international matches over the past two years while that figure rises to 75 percent for countries ranked between 31 and 50.There will also be leeway given to players under the age of 21, who are assumed to be less established at international level and therefore need only fulfil the caps criteria for the last 12 months. The changes are aimed at ending clubs' reliance on a lenient appeals system that has granted approval to 79 percent of its applicants, and ensuring only the most talented non-EU players ply their trade in this country.http://www.espnfc.com/barclays-premier-league/story/2363598/england-fa-seek-tougher-rules-for-work-permits-for-foreign-playersAnd from here we could find out Burkina Faso rankinghttp://m.fifa.com/associations/association=bfa/Burkina Faso ranked 66, whereas new regulation stated, it must be at least top 50. Not mentioning others criteria who might not be fulfilled yet.Another way we could do a special case approach, like we do with Mikel and Kalou. But don't think it will still going as smooth as before, because FA has this new rules.

Blue Colored Sky 1,807
I think he has about 60% of national team matches in the last 2 years. He has played in every game in the last year when he wasn't injured. But really, he has 15 senior matches at the age of 19, got debut at the age of 15, how would that not qualify him for special talent merit ? Omeruo was at similar situation 2 years ago, was below 75% of national team matches but he was 20 years old regular national team player and he got work permit via appeal. And the second thing is that Bertrand Traore has the second goals+assist in 90 minutes ratio in Eredivisie. The first on that list is Memphis Depay who was sold for 34m€. That's not enough proof he's good enough to elevate quality of the league ?It looks easy case that he should get work permit via appeal but the only major obstacle is that the new rules are in place from this summer on and they were put in place to minimize attaining work permits via appeal. So the panel that gives WP maybe wants to make the statement in the first summer with new rules. If he doesn't get work permit now he should go to Lyon and play in Europe because most of the times the reasoning behind appeals is that the player has history in European competitions and that's the proof of the highest quality. Amblève. 4,995
I don't have a clue whether he is a special talent or not but Traore just makes playing football look cool. His movement with the ball is really smooth.
bluesman2610 1,417
If he can't play with us next season shouldn't he stay at vitesse to get guaranteed minutes and European football we know if he's there he will play. I'm pretty sure they will be in Europa League next season

quickpassnmove 924
He's ready for Ligue 1, so maybe that Marseille partnership will find him there.
Duppy Conqueror 1,539
As I understand it George Weah would not have got a work permit under current rules.there gotta be a little sense added to it..top players can be from nations outside of the top 50. especially when the World cup is never played by the top 32 teams in the world and yet playing in the tournament boosts your nations ranking giving it a false reading. Duppy Conqueror 1,539
I think work permits should be granted to players who will receive a certain salary. if he was applying for a job in a different field they would take that into account. I thought it was a thing just to stop immigration from people who don`t add something to the country they wish to live in but people earning a good wage, even as fringe players would pay a good amount of tax to that country. Styles 9,790
He's ready for Ligue 1, so maybe that Marseille partnership will find him there.I'd love to see more of our younger players sent to France as we've had a lot of success buying from Ligue 1 over the years.
