but Barcelona is the capital of Catalunya ,,, the history of the region is complex going back almost 400 years. The catalans have their own language.

Yes Barcelona is the capital of the Catalonia and their whole issue with Spain and all that is their problem, nothing that I have an issue with. My basic grouse with Barca as a football club is that their supporters view the club as an embodiment of the nation of Catalonia and use it as a reason to build around themselves a sense of supposed superiority over other clubs. The 'We're more than a club, we're a nation' mentality so to say. They mix the politics with the game and that's just cheap. For all the class that Barca claim to exude, the hair on the back of my neighbour's dog has more class than them.
