Yaya Toure joins Manchester City

Manchester City have signed midfielder Yaya Toure from Barcelona on a five-year deal for a fee of about £24m.

The 27-year-old, who played for Ivory Coast at this summer's World Cup, was told he was surplus to requirements at the Catalan club last week.

"This is another fantastic signing for Manchester City," manager Roberto Mancini told the club's website.

Toure's arrival follows deals for Spain midfielder David Silva and Germany defender Jerome Boateng.

Toure, who will enjoy a three-week break before joining his new team-mates for pre-season training, is thought to have cost City in the region of £28m, taking the club's summer outlay to about £60m - still some way short of last season's £120m spending spree.

So Stephen Ireland, Nigel de Jong, Patrick Vieira and now Yaya Toure will compete for one DM spot at Man City...?

Fucking circus act if you ask me!!

they already have a bettter squad than liverpool, city are guaranteed a 4th spot now.

A team full of stars does not guarantee instant success.. Tottenham still have a good squad and Liverpool could look rejuvinated under Hodgson.. Defensively Manchester City are still quite weak.

Jerome Boateng will improve that situation, and they have the money to bring in more.

Yeah, but again it will take time for them to gel as a team. With so many players Mancini will no doubt play a rotation system and that means they will take longer to get their rhythm.

Buying big names doesnt mean success..got to get them work together and as said the more they have, more play time going to be wanetd by them all and maybe not getting enough etc

Didnt work out for Robhio and everyone thought that was going to change them and yet he's buggered off

i read in my sunday paper (NOTW.. i know ,its a rag but on a sunday my head can`t handle anything too heavy..) that they have given him a 5 year contract at 11million a year!!! nice one City..haha..

when Twatini brings those draconian rules into play just to try and screw English clubs over.t(he racist shit that he is) we shall escape his evil slimey snail drizzled claws... but those poor little mancs with their heads in the clouds after decades of mediocrity and worse..are gonna be screwed and they can`t even see it coming... and they have had a good youth system for a lot longer than us but they`re abandoning it now to instead overpay for players that they don`t need that are inturn gonna prevent them from getting to the very tournament that they are spending all the money to get to, in the first place.. well played City.. you`re awesome

They are a joke of a club. People compare them to us, but when we signed players it was logical. City don't need Toure at all, they need to sort there defence out.

We have paid some stupid amount of money to some players, but this really is taking it to the next level. How they think he is worth £220,000 a week is beyond me!
