CARVALHO TO MISS FOUR WEEKS

Posted on: Thu 25 Mar 2010 Chelsea Football Club can confirm that Ricardo Carvallho suffered ankle ligament damage in last night's game against Portsmouth.

The club will be able to determine over the next 24 hours whether the injury requires corrective surgery, however we can confirm at this point that he'll be out for at least four weeks.

Although i'd rather have Alex, we are a bit short on CB's at the moment so it really is a pity he is out for 4 weeks OR MORE :readthemessage:

It's frustrating to see most of our backline injured, but i'm convinced players like Bruma or Hutch can step in, although i wouldn't be so sure about bigger games like against Manchester United..

Luckily most of the back four that are injured, won't be out for too long. The odds are that we can use them again before the season ends. Essien is about to be back soon too, so that should put some less weight on our defence, would be great if he could be back for the united game!!!

Carlo Ancelotti has given more news on Ricardo Carvalho's ankle injury.

Further assessment has determined that the defender will not need surgery on damage suffered at Portsmouth on Wednesday and is therefore expected to be out for four weeks.

That means Carvalho could play for Chelsea again this season and the same is true for Michael Essien and Ashley Cole.

It is anticipated Essien will be out for another four weeks as he recovers from knee surgery.

Michael Ballack has recovered from the Achilles problem that kept him out of the last two games and is available for Saturday's visit by Aston Villa, as is Didier Drogba despite limping off at the end of Wednesday's game.

Ancelotti revealed there is a chance knee-injury-victim Branislav Ivanovic could be back for the game against Manchester United.

4 weeks, thank god!

And Iva is also out for 4 weeks/a month, so they will be ready for the end of the season. Shame that we already have played our most important games once they get back <_<
