the wes 7,212
FRANK LAMPARD reckons Chelsea could have unearthed a gem in young Daniel Sturridge. #bodycopy a { font-size: 12px; } The 19-year-old scored the Blues’ first in Seattle – then produced a superb pass that led to Lampard’s second as Carlo Ancelotti’s reign started with this friendly win on Saturday. The striker’s signing from Manchester City almost slipped under the radar earlier this month. But Lampard said: “He’s been very impressive in training. I was also impressed by the glimpses I saw of him when he played at City last season. “I watched him in the FA Youth Cup against Chelsea and I could tell straight away that he had ability, but he’s shown now that he can come in and play in this team. “He’s a very good signing for us because we want young, hungry players, and he’s got all that.”

BlueLion. 21,491
Completely agree. Whenever I see him, I immediately think of Anelka. I really think we've unearthed a gem.

EskWeston 696
Very good debut from Sturridge. Not just the goal but his performance in general. Hope he can continue this form into the rest of pre season as well.

Stamford 3
He will also get better, with players like Anelka and Drogs to learn from, he will go from strength to strength. He has to have pitch minutes though, he is young and hungry and if we don't play him I think we will shoot ourselves in the foot, because he will be off to somewhere he will get first team games. ZanSnake 1,211
Should offer a Lampard a job as a scout when he retires, he can see talent in people and their poetential. Sturridge and Di Santo should benefit this season, in small matches and then if their form is good enough then bigger matches.
Jessman 9
I think he a very smooth and streamlined player, it is very good to see that he got a little confidence boost from that goal, too bad Di Santo didn't get that goal.
The Big Drog 1,110
Agree 100% with what almost everybody has said on this thread , the guy has an absolute load of potential , he is already a very goodplayer , without exaggerating he could well become a world class player. BlueLion. 21,491
Looked excellent and confident once again today against Inter. I can't help but feel all this expectation he is generating through these early performances will hinder him, though, as it always seems to be.
