I agree. I like Benzema because of his ability to fit in different formations; he can operate as a lone striker, whilst also as a deep-lying forward and he played out on the wing against Nice earlier in the season.

i think this guy would match our style of play perfectly and would do alot better job than eto'o could ever dream of, because unlike eto he is hungry and has shown that it isn't about the money for him but about winning the champions league

allthough being young and one of the most highly rated prospects in world football he would cost heaps of money

the minumum fee will be 30 million but of course if we did make a bid for him man city would easily put it up to 40-50 mill + .. imo the big summer transfer fees will all evolve around wether man city put in a bid.. lets hope they go for another striker if by some miracle we did make a bid.

Yeah, I think the chances of landing Benzema are very slim. Chelsea are no longer the top dogs in the transfer market and I think Karim is looking to pursuit a career in La Liga instead of the premier league.

basicly we need to make the most of the fact man-city are not in the champions league

because they are going through problems, which is why this is the summer to get benzema or another big name who dont wanna end up being mid-table with robinho.

It would be nice to inject some youth on our squad, but at what price? The transfer fee we're talking about is quite hefty and which Chelsea players would you sell for him? I'd probably let Deco, Anelka, and Carvalho go.

France striker Karim Benzema is set to join Real Madrid from Lyon for a fee believed to be €35m (£30m) after the two clubs reached agreement, French radio station RMC said today. A few details, notably salary and the length of his contract, still needed to be settled, RMC said, quoting the player's agent, Karim Djaziri. "Benzema will sign for Real Madrid tonight," he said.

A spokesman for Lyon, however, said that no deal had yet been agreed. "We have received an offer which is substantially higher than the figures being talked about and nothing is to say that it is from Real Madrid," Olivier Blanc told L'Equipe. "We haven't agreed a deal with anyone [yet]."

Claude Puel, the coach of the French team, appeared resigned to losing the player yesterday when he said that the club would have to look at the "financial figures". "We know his importance at OL and his efficiency in our squad," he told the club website. "He's an exceptional player but we also know the financial figures of the club."

And last night, after the unveiling of Kaká, the Real Madrid sporting director, Jorge Valdano, said: "We do not discard the possibility that in the next few hours, something could happen."

Benzema, 21, developed at Lyon and helped them win four Ligue 1 titles. He has won 24 caps for France, scoring six goals. Several top European clubs, including Manchester United, had expressed an interest in the promising forward.
