I read somewhere today that Bayern were interested in Bosingwa.......maybe this is why the Glen Johnson story has evolved.

Can't see Bosingwa leaving at all to be honest. If we do sign a right back it will be so they can be in direct competition with Bosingwa. I have no idea how serious our interest in Johnson is, but i would not mind him back at all to be honest.

It has been obvious, that we are looking at English talent for obvious reasons (Sturridge, Young, Johnson ect..) so the roumers could be true but who knows.

Bayern Munich Want To Sign Chelsea’s Jose Bosingwa

Bayern’s search for a right-back continues and Chelsea’s Portuguese full-back is the latest to be linked with a move to the Allianz Arena…

It’s no secret that Bayern Munich need to sign a right-back and, according to a report in Bild, new trainer Louis van Gaal has earmarked 26-year-old Chelsea full-back Jose Bosingwa as a prime candidate.

It had earlier been thought that a move for Shakhtar Donetsk’s UEFA Cup winning captain Dario Srna was imminent, but the thinking is that he is too much of an offensive player for Bayern.

Bosingwa only joined Chelsea last summer from Porto and has a contract with the London club until 2011. He has been a regular for the Blues this season, notching up 34 games and scoring two goals.

Should the Portuguese international be out of Bayern’s reach, then John Heitinga of Atletico Madrid is considered another option for the Bavarians, according to the same source.

The 25-year-old Dutchman is represented by former Bayern player Soren Lerby, who has been spotted at the club this week.

Theres the article.........As you said we're looking more at English players, so it could be a possiblity that this 6+5 rule that comes into effect in a few years is the reason why we're eyeing up more English players to plan for the future.

No meh.

Can the fans do something to object to the buying og GJ?

I mean he has improved, but we got Bosingwa, Ivanovic and even Mancienne covering there, we don't need him.

If you wan 6+5, why not just get a English Winger or Midfielder instead? for example Ashley Young etc!

Liverpool remain confident beating Chelsea for Portsmouth fullback Glen Johnson.

The News of the World says Kop boss Rafa Benitez will lodge a £10 million bid when the Portsmouth full-back returns from international duty with England.

Benitez is keen to land Johnson, 25, after suffering a major setback when Villa's Gareth Barry chose Manchester City.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti is also interested but Benitez hopes Johnson's previous unhappy spell at Stamford Bridge will influence his decision. Benitez can guarantee Johnson he will be a first-choice next season.

ENGLAND right-back Glen Johnson is heading back to Chelsea in a stunning £16.5million deal.

The Portsmouth defender has opted to go back to Stamford Bridge despite strong interest from Liverpool.

Spurs, managed by Johnson’s former West Ham and Pompey boss Harry Redknapp, were also in the race.

But Johnson, 24, is set to become the first Chelsea signing of the Carlo Ancelotti era.

His decision to stay in the south will be a bitter disappointment for Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez.

Johnson moved to Fratton Park from Chelsea for £4.5m but has since established himself as England’s first-choice right-back.

He played in Almaty against Kazakhstan last night and is due to face Andorra at Wembley on Wednesday.

His deal to rejoin FA Cup winners Chelsea will be valued at £16.5m but less than that will change hands as Pompey still owe money on the original deal.

Aston Villa’s Ashley Young is also one of Ancelotti’s top targets,

Young enjoyed another great season for Villa last term, being named in the PFA team for a second successive year and also scooping the Young Player of the Year award.

Chelsea have held a long-term interest in Young and they see him as a key addition to their squad as they look to rebuild their ageing side.

Former boss Guus Hiddink is thought to have recommended a move for Young as the club look to bring in more English talent.

Young has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League since bursting on to the scene at Watford and he would fit into Chelsea’s plans to introduce a brand of more attractive attacking football.

Villa chief Martin O’Neill is a big fan of Young and would be loathe to lose the England international after having already seen Gareth Barry leave for Manchester City this summer.
