I don't think it indicated much more than hes the best option we have at LW and a tidy good quality player however sweeping statements of any kind before the seasons even started would be wild

Like the team as a whole, lets judge at xmas

Based on today's display by Gittens, Pedro N starts at left wing vs Palace. Fortunately for Jamie he has a week to show Maresca more than he did today.

That's a ridiculous statement, he showed more in 2 crappy pre season warm ups than any LW we have had for ages, I was shocked to see a Chelsea player actually get past players, wayy to early to make sweeping statements, he was decent he just didn't score

Would you like noni back lol?!

Simons may end up taking the spot

Yes, we worked on Noni and saw him improve every year. I'd continue with him - He is far better than Gittens is currently and had a good understanding with Palmer. Owners saw an opportunity to make a healthy profit on him

makes no sense, if netos on the left we have no first choice for the right lmao, maybe they will start Estevao

You honestly think its better to play a RW at LW and then literally wing it with the rw because Gittens didnt turn up and score 5 goals and look like messi in 2 games at 21?!

preferring noni is crazy after 2 pre season games haha

Fair enough maybe you have jedi mind powers

I'm not judging many brand new very young players until xmas at the earliest

No one I know wanted to keep noni at the bridge hahahaha

He's absolute wank

best game was against wolves and then was one of the worst wingers we have ever had, he couldn't hit a barn door with a banjo, You cannot say based on 2 pre season games gittens is going to be worse

That's nonsensical

Thats nonsensical

Absolute wank attracting a 50m bid from a team that finished above us?

He was super useful vs low blocks and always took on his fullback and constantly beat them. He's further along in his progression than Gittens too

He literally lost arsenal a trophy already and youre trying to say a player is crap based on 2 pre season friendlies

Why u guys even compare them? Noni RW who would go against Neto, Estevao and Palmer. Literally would be last in packing order. Yes, too early to judge Gittens but my current feeling is even with signing Garnacho and two natural LWs I would still prefer Estevao or Neto on weaker side over them right now.

Because they were traded in the summer. And because Neto plays on both wings - we could have kept Noni and Estevao on the right and signed a left winger to rotate with Neto

We can’t fill the squad with teenagers. Noni would be a super useful player this season if we kept him around.

I would rather have Gittens over Noni. We have two CF that are much better at finishing than Jackson. Gittens is always looking to get the ball to them first. Noni was always looking to score, but he missed a lot. He also turned the ball over a lot. I have not seen Gittens do that anywhere near the frequency Noni did. Gittens has areas to improve but he seems to be a better fit for what Maresca wants at LW.

Could you imagine what would have happened with the Delap penalty shot had Noni been out there with Palmer off the pitch. Noni is just never about the bigger picture. He is very selfish.

I don't see it that way. We sold Noni to open space for Estevao. Neto imo and majority would agree won battle against Madueke last season.

Gittens can be seen as replacement for Sancho or even Mudryk.

? He never got any better the whole time he was with us. Rubbish at passing, rubbish at shooting and selfish (same as Nicholas) Glittens doesn't seem to be very good at decision making either, hope he learns but I'm not optimistic yet.

Lazy dismissal of Noni's time here. It is not a surprise a team that finished above us spent 50m on him. He was second only to Doku in progressive ball carries last season and is a useful weapon vs low blocks even if his finishing was iffy.

Also, the point is trading Madueke out and bringing Gittens in makes the squad weaker. Madueke is far ahead in his development. It made more sense to sign an elite winger and have Madueke as competition than what we have now - Gittens in a starting role
