so no Caicedo

and

we have SEVEN players on a yellow now for the next game that could be suspended for the semi

Tosin Adarabioyo

Cole Palmer

Marc Cucurella

Liam Delap

Reece James

Levi Colwill

Pedro Neto

You just know that half of those players will get a yellow in the next game

Can't wait to see a starting lineup with KDH, Josh and others 😆

You already know our fans are going to lose their minds when Maresca still doesn’t start Andrey Santos against Palmeiras despite Caicedo being suspended and plays Essugo instead. Actually, knowing him he’ll play Gusto or Reece in midfield. 😭😭😭

Essugo deserves a start, as does Santos.

Enzo, Essugo and Santos would be my pick.

Semi will be vs city who look like the best team in the tournament by far so I doubt it will matter but the yellow card rule is indeed a disgrace.

Lavia was great today so don’t think he gets dropped. Maresca said at his presser yesterday that he views Andrey Santos as a more attacking #8 like Enzo so I don’t think he’s even considering him to replace Moi for this next match.

If that really is the case, he will never get a serious run under current management.

It's weird because on regular World Cup they clear yellow cards one game earlier. Both tournaments organized by FIFA and same 32 teams system.

In the FIFA Club World Cup, yellow cards do not reset after the group stage. Instead, they accumulate throughout the tournament until the quarter-finals. After the quarter-finals, a "clean slate" is implemented, and any accumulated yellow cards are wiped clean. This means players can only be suspended for the semi-final or final if they receive a red card in the semi-final or a second yellow card in the quarter-final,

No chance Lavia gets dropped. I wouldn't be surprised to see KDH come in especially after his goal to replace Caicedo.

That trio will get runover.

their MF is deep and fairly strong

Aníbal Moreno    Defensive Midfield    Argentina    €11.00m
Emiliano Martinez   Defensive Midfield  Uruguay Italy    €10.00m
Richard Rios   Central Midfield  Colombia    €18.00m
Allan    Central Midfield     Brazil    €10.00m
Lucas Evangelista    Central Midfield   Brazil    €7.50m
Raphael Veiga   Attacking Midfield    Brazil    €15.00m
Mauricio   Attacking Midfield   Brazil Paraguay    €11.00m

Hard to see where he gets a run of games or consistent minutes if all of Enzo, Caicedo, and Lavia are fit. And as it currently stands it’s clear KDH is also trusted more.

If he stays here he will get minutes in the lesser comps and for late game appearances off the bench. But when you have other massive clubs in your ear offering you a big role I find it hard to imagine this situation not boiling over at some point this summer.

I don't think he'll be content with playing a bit part role having been the main guy for a season. Just feels like everything is gearing up to his departure.

Yeah, I can’t think of a good sales pitch we could give him that would convince him that it’s best for him to stay. Which is sad. There’s a reason you hear other really top clubs being interested.

As a club we are now going to start seeing the consequences of stockpiling super talented young players all over the place. We’re seeing it at goalkeeper, we’re seeing it in midfield, and we’re going to start seeing it in attacking areas soon enough. Look at Paez for example. What’s his future pathway to the first team?

Maresca further clarifies his comments on the weather. “Guys, please don't misunderstand me. I said it's a fantastic competition. It's the Club World Cup. It's top. We are happy to be in the last eight. We are happy to win all these kind of things.

“But we have had six or seven games suspended. It’s not normal to suspend a game. In a World Cup, how many games are suspended? Zero, probably. In Europe, how many games? Zero.
We are here two weeks and they already suspended six or seven games.

“There is some problem for me personally. I'm talking as a manager. Because when you are two hours inside and you try to keep players in the game, but for two hours they are speaking with the family outside for safety reasons, they are eating something, they are playing [games] and laughing. How can you keep them two hours inside, focused? It's a joke. That's why I said it.”

Maresca during the delay

Enzo Maresca on the weather delay: "It's a joke. It’s not the same game if you stop it for two hours. I understand the stoppage for safety reasons, but [if there is a risk of this] Charlotte is probably not the right place to play such a game of football.”
