To be honest I really can't see us signing Aguero. Its been such a long, drawn-out transfer saga, but the difference between this and the Gerrard-or-Essien fiasco back in 2005 is that there seems to be absolutely no developments. I appreciate its a World Cup year, but we weren't sweating on any big arrivals in 2006 prior to the World Cup in Germany - we'd already signed Shevchenko and Ballack by then.

That may be true, but it took Arsenal until the following January to sign up Arshavin after he amazed everyone at Euro 2008.

Don't rule anything out! We have 2 months to strike a deal. I'm not throwing in any towels just yet.

Chelsea are back in the race to sign Argentina's brilliant young forward Sergio Aguero.

The 22-year-old has both the quality and the youthful legs Chelsea need for next season as they bid to turn their domestic dominance into glory in Europe.

Youthful: Sergio Aguero could help Chelsea push for European honours

Any deal to bring Maradona's son-in-law from Atletico Madrid would cost Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich at least £20million.

Aguero has started only one game for Argentina in the World Cup so far but is highly rated, having scored eight goals from 24 international appearances.

Chelsea relied on Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka to help them to their first domestic Double last season but both players are in their 30s and fast approaching the veteran stage of their careers.

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti has admitted that he wants a more youthful flavour to his team next season and Aguero fits the bill.

Oh please be true !!

Would love to see his face in a Chelsea line up! Maybe someone should send an email containing only a link to this thread to Chelsea HQ, then maybe then they will get the point that he is a well recieved player and that the number of shirts with his name on the back of a Chelsea would help gain profit. Not only will his signing increase the number of shirt sales, but he is also a very quality player who is young. He could also help Chelsea rid of the 'old pensioners' tag which seems to be added onto a Chelsea discussion in the media now-a-days.

But i hope that with Aguero signing, Carlo doesn't go against his word about using Borini more next season. I think Borini has the qualities to turn into the next big thing for a striker.

AGUERO EYES CHELSEA MOVE

skysports.com

Argentina striker Sergio Aguero has fuelled rumours of a possible move to Stamford Bridge, saying the thought of a future with Chelsea 'excites' him.

Aguero, 22, has been linked with a number of high-profile clubs in the summer transfer window following his rise to fame at Atletico Madrid.

The Spanish side appear to have already conceded defeat in their attempts to retain his services, saying their star man can go for the right price.

"If an offer comes in from the right club and Atletico feels it is the right price, then a deal can be done," Aguero told the Daily Star on Sunday.

"Of course Chelsea is of interest as they are one of the most powerful teams in European football.

"They show their intent summer after summer in the transfer market and more often than not that intent will see them end the season with at least one trophy."

Aguero admits that building a stable future is amongst his priorities, but top of the list is silverware.

"As a player you need to look after your future financially but the truth is most top European clubs would offer me top packages," he said.

"What I need to consider is where I can win things and I know for sure I can win things at Chelsea.

"You look at their players and you are excited about any future you may have there."

The talented striker admits that the thought of playing alongside Didier Drogba amongst other Chelsea stars appeals massively.

He said: "To be the strike partner of Didier Drogba is a thing many players would love to be.

"But it's not just Drogba - it's Lampard, Terry, Anelka, Essien, and maybe even Fernando Torres.

"They have quality players everywhere."

Oh dear, come on Roman! Just open the pocket and do it! Everyone wants it lol!

If we dont sign Aguero I will start a fucking riot. Buildings will burn, crops will be infested, and women and children will die. All of this will be caused at the hands of Roman.

When these sits run such articles, how are the acquired? Is it a personal interview? Press conference? Imaginary? There should be some sort of video footage of this interview right? I dont believe it until I see it.

If all we sign this summer is Aguero and Benayoun I'll be a very happy man. I hope they sign him soon so he can feature in the community shield
