None are worth 40 millions, yet.

Of course, the problem is though, the transfer market is so heavily inflated that players like Aguero (worth no more than £25million) instantly double in price (almost).

Exactly.

A few years ago a striker named Drogba came for £24 million.

I'm afraid we'll have to start looking at the numbers in a different way.

However one can argue with the cases of David Villa, Mesut Ozil and Khedira.

Too high profile for us. Chelsea signing Aguero is like Aston Villa signing Messi. WE-DO-NOT-BUY-WORLD-CLASS-PLAYERS

Everything points to that direction but I do remember a Neymar lad back in the summer.

AND HERE WE GO AGAIN!!

Sergio Aguero linked with £38 million move to Chelsea

Chelsea are reportedly considering making a £38 million transfer bid for Atletico Madrid striker Sergio Aguero.

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is believed to keen on bolstering his squad in the January transfer window as his side continues to struggle to stay in touch with the top three sides in the Premier League after a disastrous run of form.

The Blues have expressed an interest in signing Aguero in the past but were put off by the demands made by Atletico Madrid.

The 22-year-old’s new contract with the Spanish club, however, comes with a much lower buy-out clause and has tempted Chelsea into considering making a bid.

The striker has played 157 times for Atletico, scoring 61 times, as well as making 25 appearances for his national side Argentina.

Ancelotti is said to be keen on adding extra fire-power to his strike force after watching Chelsea slump to their worst run of results in 14 years.

The Premier League champions are currently nine points behind league leaders Manchester United, who still have a game in hand.

If we sign Aguero this january I will drink my own piss! :whistling:

We all know because he's just signed a new contract with Atletico that he will stay there until at least the summer, so no way will we be signing him now! Otherwise what's the friggin' point in signing a deal??

No. He is not worth 40 millions...I never understood the buzz about him, since he is not even the best player at Atletico de Madrid ( Forlán ) and doesnt have a regular place in the argentinian national team´s startig XI.

your first statement is debatable forlan looks like he is on the decline and many atletico fans rate Aguero higher than Forlan and comenting on aguero not being in the argentina starting XI is a bit harsh they have so many of the worlds best attacking players in their team (Messi, Milito, Higuian, Tevez, Di Maria ect) so its not exactly easy for him to get into the team.
