Vesper 30,224 Posted Sunday at 17:30 Share Posted Sunday at 17:30 Cole Palmer set for scan on groin this Tuesday The Blues talisman missed the West Ham game on Friday https://siphillipstalkschelsea.substack.com/p/sources-cole-palmer-set-for-scan Cole Palmer was set to start against West Ham on Friday night right up until the warm ups when he just felt too uncomfortable to play in the end and had to drop out. Of course, panic ensued amongst the Chelsea fan base who had to wait for Enzo Maresca to try and reassure them after the game confirming that Palmer had a problem with his groin. The gaffer said after the game: "Cole was not 100 percent in the last few days, he tried in the warm-up to play but he was not right. We will see how bad it is. He was already not 100 percent against Palace but he tried to make an effort for the club, fans and team." SPTC Sources understand that the plan was for Palmer to get through the West Ham game, miss training, and then go for a scan. Palmer then prepared for the game in pain and was dosed up on painkillers. But he was unfortunately just too sore to play. Off the back of this, we’ve heard Palmer will now have a scan on his groin this coming Tuesday to determine the full extent of any issue. Until we know these result we will not know how long to expect Palmer to be out for. However, initial belief is that it could be around 4-6 weeks. This is NOT the final diagnosis - we will not get that until he is scanned and the results come in. It could be a lot less than 4-6 weeks or it could be more. We’ll need to wait and see if the initial forecast ends up being correct or not. Either way, I’ll be shocked if Palmer now ends up going on international duty whatever the results show up. Chelsea will be keen to get him rested and fully recovered.
