if he can get mid table players playing then there is no reason what so ever he can't get elite players playing either.

I'm afraid this is not that simple, hence all that "player power" and mentality talk. This Hungarian interview with Z. Low that someone posted a few pages back is very interesting read on the matter. He said they had to completely shift their perception and knowledge of what managing a team is when coming from Dortmund to PSG, in short.

Do you think its the match attending fans who make PL the worlds most attractive league?

Indirectly, yes. It would be absolutely fuck all, football in general, without attending fans. Think permanent lockdown and zero atmosphere.

Why Boehly bought the club and why PL is the Nr. 1 league in the world is because of the millions of million people who cares and watch the games from abroad every single week and weekend.

It is mainly to do with profit, TV revenue , merchandise, dirty money and ego why billionaires buy clubs

If anything its the fortunate match attending fans who should take a big look in the mirror and instead of beeing swanky about it focus on how they can contribute to make the atmosphere better because right now its a distaster and certaintly one of the reasons the team is performing bad at home.

If you go to SB especially for a big game, it's generally 50% open mouthed day trippers happy to sit in silence. Cross off the list with Madame Tussauds, Windsor Castle, Oxford street. There was a woman in front of me barely watching doing a sudoku.

Having a track record in a 2 league tema is no more impressive than what potter did at Brighton, just because a manager comes from a "mid table" doesn't make him a mid table manager, infact look at what Brighton are doing now that 95% down to potter, he built them up over 3 years and they are now above us playing better than us, this bullshit elite players argument is tragic, if he can get mid table players playing then there is no reason what so ever he can't get elite players playing either.

You really have the worst takes. Face it, even Brighton are better off without Potter and Cucushit (estupinan is better imo). He may have built the foundation but it was taken to the next level by another manager. Klopp did it all himself. Achieving something like that at a smaller club is special, and replicating it at a bigger club even more so. Even Ten Hag achieved exciting results at Ajax and is now replicating that at United. Mourinho WON the UCL with Porto and the rest is history.

Yes you can let any manager build the foundations for the next 10 years but the results won't be the same. Mourinho set us up for 10 years, albeit with some shit football. Potter, I'm afraid, will set us back 10 years. By Christmas, when we are languishing in 15th all of us will be calling for a change in manager.

I honestly don't recall a manager (in recent history) who has gone from mid-table to leading a top 4 side.    Maybe Pochettino at Spurs (got them to a UCL final)...

Ten Hag, Conte, Tuchel, Klopp, Pep were all elite before joining the Premier League.  Even Mourinho had that killer mentality in him from his FC Porto days, you could see the next step was there.

Potter hasn't proven anything.  It's quite funny that Brighton are playing so well without Potter, makes you wonder just how average of a manager he is....as teams tend to struggle when a top class manager leaves the club but in Brighton's case, it's like as soon as Potter left, all the players have freedom to express themselves on the pitch and they are beating PL teams for fun.

Is there an example in recent premier league history of a mid table manager joining a top team and doing well. It seems like they are usually out of their depth. Moyes at UTd and Santo at spurs. There is also a reason why English managers have never won their own premier league, because they suck ass

The only one that comes to mind is Pochettino at Spurs (came from Southampton) if that counts.

Moyes at UTD is unfair, didn't matter who took over from fergie it was always going to be a downfall, fair play to Moyes for actually having the bollocks to atleast try take it on.

Potter and his staff are the reason they are doing so well, let's not pretend they wasn't flying before potter left...... Let's also not pretend we wasnt doing well when potter took over, this all changed after the injuries and the world cup, and 7+ new players to that mix, I struggle to even believe pep would be successful in that time. Far to easy to use the never had there been such and such or mid table this mid table that, the guys not even had a proper chance and before some idiot says he's had 6 month he hadn't really with injuries amount of games world cup etc etc he's had no where near enough time with these players.

If we crash out of the champions League and finish 8-10th would you keep him next season ?

Yes is the simple answer, this season needs to be used as a pre pre season, we ain't getting champions league football next year, and we ain't winning anything this year. What I want from potter now is to use the rest of the season to really start to implement a system and a way of play, he had rest of this season and a whole preseason to get this team to gel and start playing well, we DO NOT need to rush or force it this season, needs implementing properly, get everyone on the same wave length and understanding. They will be more players coming in, a new stadium is also on the cards and we are investing in young talented players, the future is bright for this club. The instant success mentality will change eventually, people can say well it won us trophy's..... I think if we had a plan like this under Roman and how he loved the club we would of won alot more.

We do but we had a much better coach at the time.

Also had a fully fit Kante who was basically MOTM in what like 4 games in the run you to the final, also had Rudiger, Jorginho, Christensen, Mount all flying and playing extremely well. And as you mentioned an elite manager.

I get optimism but I think it will be a tough tough ask.

Do me a favour, how many of them managers had a new owner, injury crisis and a mid season world cup with like 13 new players coming in? Oh wait...

Doesn't excuse his shocking win %. Even with his circumstances he should have achieved much better results thus far.
