Basically Rice needs to throw a fit and demand to go if we have a chance this summer. Even then WH have complete leverage in any negotiations to demand whatever fee they want. He's got so many years left on his contract and is so important to their team. Selling him after the season starts and with limited time to replace him their fans would riot.

Our only real hope is that WH are in really bad shape financially due to COVID and absolutely need money. Then maybe they'd accept £50m or something more reasonable.

Zakaria or Rice?  Which one better. Zakaria reminds me a little bit Bakayoko.

Zakaria is miles above Bakayoko and even Rice for that matter, the only possible downside would be lack of PL experience but that's about it. Better and cheaper unfortunately it doesn't look like he is even a target..

It's a consideration because he's approaching 30, is starting to get injured a lot, relies on his athletic qualties and this system doesn't really have a position that can bring the very best out of him. Put those all together and he's at huge risk of going the same way as Essien.

That said i'm a bit cautious about doing it this summer as i feel it will be one change too many but on a quiter summer i would have been fully behind any decision to cash in and spend the money on a player better suited to that role infront of the back 4.

I reckon he's been beasted season after season but now could actually get a break with the squad we have. When he's fit he's invaluable. I mean if it's a clear choice between binning him or the sideways passing expert it's an easy choice for me

Bakayoko + Barkley + money = Rice

WHU are in bad shape financially you only have to read around to see that.

Regarding Bakayoko, Barkley etc we have enough collateral around us and money to make this happen even if they demand 60M....forget 80M that price fictitious.

The money we can raise from player sales such as Jorginho and Barkley would cover the cost of DR easy. Affording him is not a problem, it's if we want him that badly.

For me, the way I see the No.4 position is as follows:

Kante: Very important player if fit, not really his ideal position but can still offer a lot. Will be a big player for another 2-4 seasons depending on fitness. However, we have to face that he may be broken slightly with his injuries and question how he is compromised in the position. For me, it is the case of sell if we get an offer if £70m+ (cash), keep if not.

Jorgi: Very good player in the right league or system but that is not really here. Sell for £35m+. However, does not have much of a market.

Billy: Very promising. Is kind of an ideal 2nd No.4 who we could blood at a low cost. Problem is the number of players in his position/potentially being brought (Rice). For me, loan if you do not sell both Jorgi and Kante so he gets the minutes.

Rice: Interesting option for us as he players DMF but he could potentially play CB also which is still an issue. Problems are that he is expensive, hard to extract from Wet Spam and questions over his actual ability level. For me, he should only be brought if one of Jorgi or Kante are sold (or even both.)

True, raising the money looks like it'll be the "easy" part. Convincing WH to sell their best player and future captain is the extremely difficult bit.

Been thinking about Rice. I always thought he was like Barkley and had the skills but without a brain. After him and Mason went out after Covid lockdownt to play footy in the park I thought they were both big kids.

But the lads an out n out baller.

He is just what we need as a CDM. Hes vocal (OMFG what made FL put the armband on wee baldy man? Quiet, shy,is that how we sea a captain) But watch Rice. Hes always shouting and pointing. FL wants fluidity in MF. N'Golo is brilliant chasing down guys, Great at 1 on 1. But as a ball player/passer hes not the best..

All our MF'ers offer summet slightly different. The reason of course behind the thinking N'Golo going is age, injuries, money. Excellent when fresh but Meh when knackered. Jorgi weak, frail, needs time/space on ball to be his Best.

We also have to think WTF we doing with Billy G? The kids got so much potential.

We have Mason,Barkles and RLC. We should really get shot of EITHER of Barkles and RLC PLUS Jorgi or N'Golo.

I do think he should get Rice even if its to be next to Thiago till we get another top CB. Just see a dirty scrap on our hands with the Pikies. There will be more want him next year.

And we really cant let Manure have wee baldy man. That would be just crazy - who are we? Leicester?
