Exclusive: Chelsea Consider January Move for Bordeaux Forward Josh Maja

https://www.90min.com/posts/6518038-exclusive-chelsea-consider-january-move-for-bordeaux-forward-josh-maja?utm_source=RSS

ffs, this is a player LEEDS should be looking at, NOT CHELSEA

take away his fluke hat trick versus bottom of the table Nimes, he has two league goals, one back in August

he cannot even break into their lineup as a full time starter and he is 21yo in 11 days, so is not a teen

It's The Sun so it's probably fake but this is way more exciting than being linked with Ake. For having watched the player a few times, he's very promising. I doubt Brighton will be able to keep him.

you rate him over Ake???

make no mistake, just because I want a truly WC CB like Skriniar or Romagnoli, I want to be clear that I DO rate Ake, and fairly highly, so if this lad (I have only seen him once) is THAT good, then perhaps that £25m is not as enraging as it appears to be

he looks fairly skinny, and is only 1.82m (then again Ake even shorter, which is a worry)

Ake for me is an AC replacement

Romagnoli/Skriniar for Zouma and either will be a deffo starter (obviously)

I will keep an open mind and watch him play more

Chelsea fans not keen on signing Wilfried Zaha

https://www.thechelseachronicle.com/club-news/chelsea-fans-not-keen-on-signing-wilfried-zaha/

Chelsea have been linked with a number of wingers in recent weeks, and a name that will not go away is Wilfried Zaha. The club could reportedly step up their interest in the Crystal Palace winger, despite his £80 million valuation. However, some fans are not keen on signing the Ivorian winger.

Zaha is widely regarded as one of the most direct wingers the Premier League has seen in recent times. He provides a huge threat when bearing down on a defender in a one-on-one situation, and can tempt defenders into making reckless challenges.

Despite this, some Chelsea fans are not convinced. His numbers this season in terms of goals and assists have been disappointing, to say the least. He has scored just two goals and provided one assist in 15 Premier League starts. These numbers are not traditionally those of an £80 million attacking investment.

Similar to former Chelsea man Eden Hazard, Zaha does drag numerous defenders his way which creates space for his teammates to exploit. This is a difficult statistic to measure, but one that is worth considering.

There is also the argument that Zaha’s Palace teammates could be hampering his output. It is fair to say that he would be surrounded by better players at Stamford Bridge, and that could be the catalyst for an upturn in his attacking exploits.

Despite this, his valuation and lack of goal contributions this season have left Chelsea fans unconvinced. Here is what some fans have had to say on Twitter about the ongoing rumours.

Ake buy back clause expires in January.

Also Atletico willing to let Saul go for 85m. I'm thinking for around same money we can sell Kante and Jorginho and buy Saul and Havertz. Those two with Kovacic make perfect midfield 😍

I don't think this is going to sit well with our fanbase, though i agree next summer is the best time to sell Kante or Jorginho.

I most certainly do. Ake would probably do a better job here than Christensen but I don't think he will improve us very much. Rudiger and Tomori are both superior. I watch quite a bit of Leeds, love watching Bielsa's teams they're very entertaining. Ben White is a class player, higher ceiling than Ake. He's a dominant CB, very composed in his aggression, controlling demeanour, comfortable with the ball.

He's still fairly young, just turned 22. Obviously he has yet to play in the PL so maybe he could require some time to adapt but I feel he would be worth the gamble. I'm not sure about his height, definitely looked taller than 1.82 but I could be wrong.

I double checked

he have a mini Koulibaly thang (Napoli lied for years, saying he was 1.95m, when in reality he was only 1.87m)

t-markt says 1.82m

wiki says 1.85m

Ake would be a logical and smart move.

For the rest, my god ..
Saul ??? 85M ??????
What a bad joke.
Even the fans of Atletico Madrid can't support him.
What an overrated player.

Havertz?
A good player project, but I have many doubts of what he could be, especially outside the Bundesliga.

Kante, Jorginho and Kovacic are the best we have.
We have to work from this base. Do not destroy it.

Kante is our most important player. World class. And there are those who want to sell him ...

... to buy SAUL!
No more internet for today.

If the club goes that way, we'll be closer to Everton level.

Kante's best attributes are when we don't have the ball. We are now implementing a system where we see more of it and are far more progressive in our play.

I'm not sure if Saul is the answer, but if we are to replace Kante it has to be a huge one.

I'm 1.82 myself so I had trouble believing we're the same height, but he's certainly not as tall as Zouma or Rudiger.

I actually think 25m could be a bargain. Brighton could certainly use a player of his quality, I don't even know why they would sell for that low. Then again, it's only The Sun reporting it and in all likelihood Ake is the only CB we're looking at. If I had to guess, he will be signing for Spurs in the summer since they missed out on Saliba(very good CB).

we are mad as ass is we do not go all out to sign Werner IF Håland goes to RB

the big 4 must haves for me (January and Summer) are so simple

LB Chilwell (£70-80m) or if a fail,  Telles (£33m)

RW Sancho (£100-120m) I have resigned myself that if we fail there we will grab Zaha, I just so HOPE we do not overpay (I think it is madness to not drop the extra £20 to 40m on Sancho, but it isnt my club, not my quid)

CF Werner (£25m) or Håland (£17m)

CB Romagnoli (£70-80m or so)

the rest (Ake, plus a DMF, etc) can sort itself out by summer 2021 (Ake sooner, obviously), which is probably when we make a move for Declan Rice, which I am in strong favour of unless he is over £70m or £80m

How does today's rumour about Saul Niguez play into this? Do you believe it's true that Atleti want to sell and are prepared to do business at less than his buyout? If so should buyers be on guard?

I am open (for reasons stated in multiple posts and regardless of the hate I might get) to broaching the subject of selling Kante in the summer. I think he is being misused here now for two straight years. Kante as a more forward CMF would NEVER have gotten the global admiration he has. He was such a key to our title-winning defence (and Leicesters and France's) and know he is not being used in that way and it shows, badly. Unless we use him like we used to, he is a massive luxury player.

that said

I am not convinced of Havertz AT THE PRICE Bayer will demand (£100m or more I am looking at)

Saul at £85m, on the other hand, is a fair price, he is a truly world class CMF and very versatile (can play LB, and AMF as well). I have some some slag him off, and I could not disagree more. Houssem Aouar is another creative CMF whom I like, as is Maximilian Eggestein of Werder Bremen.

IF we sell Kante, we need a true DMF to replace him. Thomas at AM is a steal at around £42m release clause. The other option (as the club is apparently NOT interested in Camavinga) is Declan Rice. He will, however, cost close to double what Thomas will. I also like Sandro Tonali, a LOT.

As for AMF's, yes Havertz is a potential world-beater (but is having a poor year so far), but the cost is just so high now, so maybe we can look at Nicolò Zaniolo, 20yo, BIG (1.90m) fast, and LEFT FOOTED who can also play RW.  and finally, another left-footed RW/AMF soon 20yo (April) in the mix is our new Swedish star, Dejan Kulusevski (1.86m) who is on loan at  Parma (tearing up Serie A, over a full season he is tracking to 10 to 12 goals and 16 to 18 assists in the league) from Atalanta

Depending on if the player himself wants to leave. Probably not convinced with Atletico given they have sold virtually all their best players in the past 1-2 years.

only way Saul makes sense (and IMHO I think this does make sense) is if we are selling Kante (he turns 30yo next season) in the summer and also buying a real crunching DMF like Thomas Partey (only £41.7m RC) to go with Saul (basically GUTTING AM's MF, lolol) or even Declan Rice at DMF (who will cost near double Thomas though) A Kante sale would cover most of the first two, and put us within 40 to 50m of Saul plus Rice.

I am very aware that any talk of selling Kante is poison here. I am only showing what could be done. I truly just wish we would go back to using him as a destroyer, he is far far more impactful there, and lawd knows our defence needs it.  Again, I expect a lot of hate from some quarters for even saying that in regards to his position. Rational thought (whether I agree with it or not, or whether others agree with my thoughts or not) and fair discussion seems to go out the window with Kante. It seems like some just want to ram him down the club's throat playing where Sarri moved him to, consequences be damned.
