Says who? You? The only reason we don't play 433 like the big teams is that we don't have a proper DM.

He chose 343 because it best suited the players we had. If he brings in players for a 433 he at least has the option. He tried to implement this multiple times over the season but Sarr is a terrible LB and we don't have a DM.

A few things:

1) We haven't played well with a back four since 2015. Fell apart in Jose's last season and didn't fare much better after he left, under SFL we were defending like the keystone cops and under Sarri we were also poor which is why he then switch and went ultra Sarri-ball/possession based as we were all over the place defending in the more progressive version.

2) Currently Silva is our best CB. Since he has been here he has primarily played the central role. Yes, the bloke is an absolute Rolls Royce of a player, however asking a 38 year old to play in a back 4 in the league after playing the last two in a 3 is super risky for both his health and the running he would have to do.

Second, Nate did well last season but he didn't strike me as a player you want in a back 4 as he need help on the cover a lot (which in ok in a back 3.)

Dave, may or may not be here next season but he cannot play anywhere in a back 4, same goes for Alonso and Sarr. So, of all our CB's and back up WB shouldn't be risked in a 4 without serious risk. Then you get to Colwill, yeah he could play in a 4 but talk about throwing the boy into the deep end.

Of course we may end up with De Ligt but even he has played in a three a lot at Juve in a slower league. Kounde absolutely forget about him in a 4 at 5'9". So, the two CB's we've had strongest links with. Even the kid at RBL which has gone quite also plays in a three.

So, yeah, we may not have a DM but that is because we've been playing with a 3atb and I don't really see TT moving from it as we would probably have to get 3 CB's plus two WB's to cover James and Chilwell who are the only two players in the squad you can say from the outset you would be comfortable in a 4 with.

I do get the arguments for a move to a 4, however it isn't next season. In a best case scenario we get De Ligt and Colwill back and both hit the ground running and then we can experiment with a 4, then next season when Silva is done, we find another CB comfortable with a 4 and Nate can go to CB4.

Additionally, I think we can all see that Rice wants to come back here and other teams with a need at DM are sorting that out now. In my opinion, he requires a waiting game as no way are we doing £100m+ on him. Next season he'll only have the year left and CM will definitely need looking at owing to the ages/contract situations with Jorgi and Kante (I recognise this is something people want sorted sooner, but imo it is down the list simply owing to the holes elsewhere.)

That's only like saying who's saying we are going to a back four? You? Doesn't have the players? He's had transfer windows, so surely if he wanted 433 he would of made steps already?

The ultimate irony in Arse suddenly becoming massive spenders as soon as the Roman era ends. Back to back windows where Arse will spend north of £150m if they land all their targets. 😒

All our top 4 rivals will have their squads with new signings available from preseason day 1.

#DeLigt : there has already been a first contact between #Juve and #Chelsea . The Blues have asked for information. The position of the bianconeri is clear: there is the will to reach the renewal, but a signal from the player is needed. Without it, new scenarios can be opened. 👀🇳🇱 @GoalItalia

Seeing this thread reminds me of the sweeping statements made when our rivals were apparently going to leave us for dust by signing the likes of Bergwijn, Cedric, Bruno, Gelson, Ighalo and Pablo Mari in January 2020.

Di Marzio apparently saying Werner + cash is the offer.

Tbh, I think I’d rather keep Werner and sell Pulisic.

I will miss Werners commitment and professionalism but let's have it right, he isn't Chelsea material. Pulisic still has many years ahead of him and I think he has far more ability than Werner which can shine more so if playing in the right team with the right players around him.

Pulisic has played 115 games for the club. How many more games are we going to give him to reach his "potential"?

0 if he is unwilling to sign an extension. We can easily include Werner with this deal and sell Pulisic too.

Werner is at least fit most of the time and his movement and runs cause havoc against teams who play high lines. Perhaps with a bunch of new faces he’d rediscover his form?

Pulisic is made of glass and is feast or famine when he is fit. Werner will also at the very least run himself into the ground for the team.

I think there's little chance we end up selling him and Werner in the same window having lost Lukaku already.

It would really depend on incoming players. I really don’t see a huge difference in keeping either Pulisic or Werner. Pulisic had one injury last year that had him on the sideline for games. When he twisted his ankle in an international game. He was never injured in a game for Chelsea. The made of glass thing was applicable in the previous year, but his muscle injuries have not reoccured.

Whatever player Juve wants, fine by me. I doubt they want a player swap. That rarely happens anymore. Teams want the cash.

He's physically weak & has little to nothing to help address that. Look at Davies when he joined Bayern compared to now - Mentality.

They did with Arthur, so there's previous.

Right and now Werner, hides from taking penalty kicks in games and PK shootouts, misses absolute sitters and often will not take the shot… and he is a striker, he should want all of that, it should be in his dna. Neither are going to be missed. Include the one Juve wants, if they want one, is what I am saying.
