Chelsea

  • Said El Mala has rejected a move to Brentford in a potentially significant transfer boost for Chelsea. (Florian Plettenberg)

  • Chelsea are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt left-back Nathaniel Brown as a potential replacement if Marc Cucurella leaves Stamford Bridge this summer. (TEAMtalk)

  • Another left-back on Chelsea’s radar is Alejandro Grimaldo from Xabi Alonso’s old club Bayer Leverkusen, but Barcelona are also in the mix for his signature. (TEAMtalk)

  • Chelsea look ready to battle Liverpool to sign this relegated star - more info here!

Is Lewis Hall not in the LB conversation? Seems like Nathaniel Brown is Bayern bound and Grimaldo is 30

Been watching some highlights of this Said El Mala guy. I’m just not impressed at all, really. Looks like he’d be yet another massive risk of a winger who will struggle with the huge step up. Doesn’t look close to the level of someone who starts for a top PL club. The Brentford link was sensible because that looks about his level.

If this board is still dead set on whichever LW we target being another young player then that Mika Godts dude looks significantly more impressive than El Mala. But even he would be a super risky signing. Which after Mudryk, Garnacho, and Gittens we surely can’t do again.

That's why we want, because he's shite

👀🫩Michael Olise is READY to join Real Madrid.

He has been informed of the club's interest, and he is WILLING to join.

Real Madrid know about the player being willing to join, which is why they will make an official bid for him next week.

Forgot about Sterling, too. Good lord, our recruitment on that left side has been criminal since BlueCo arrived.

To be honest, our recruitment in general has been pretty suspicious (or often just dreadful) for 10 years at a minimum and arguably much longer. We've not built a team that is in a serious title race year after year since the the 04-10 era.

This club has been mismanaged for a shockingly long time for the amount of money it has spent.

EXCL: Man United ready £70-80m transfer package for Arsenal & Man City target Sandro Tonali

Can United move ahead of the competition?

Manchester United look to be moving fast this summer. A deal to sign Ederson from Atalanta is already in place, and they’re stepping up their pursuit of a second midfielder signing.

My understanding after consulting sources this morning is that Michael Carrick is really keen on making Newcastle’s Sandro Tonali his top target for that position, and it seems INEOS are on board.

These major football transfers are never straightforward, however, with Arsenal and Manchester City’s interest also confirmed to me. There’s even some indication that City have already held some important initial talks with those close to the player.

Sandro Tonali likely to leave Newcastle United this summer

As I recently reported, Tonali sees his future away from Newcastle, but as things stand there’s no sign of an imminent decision from the Italy international, while the Magpies are also standing firm in their insistence that he’s not for sale.

Still, things could start moving soon as it looks like internal discussions have already taken place at United about how much to offer for Tonali.

“Manchester United and INEOS are on the same page - after securing Ederson, it looks like they’re ready to move for Tonali next,” one source said.

“Newcastle don’t want to sell, and they’ll insist on at least £100m. However, United can’t and won’t pay that, so expect them to test the waters with around £70-80m to start with.”

There had been links with Elliot Anderson for some time, but United have ultimately decided not to splash the cash on one player in that way. With Ederson secured for relatively cheap, there’s some optimism that they could now have room to spend big on someone like Tonali, albeit not the kind of money Nottingham Forest have also been looking for for Anderson, over £100m.

Who else is in the race for Sandro Tonali?

I’ve previously been told that Tonali has shown signs of favouring a return to Serie A, and while that may still be the case, I’m not currently aware of anything advancing in that direction. The transfer fee and wages required probably make that deal impossible.

So for the time being, my sense is that the 26-year-old will end up at either United, City, or Arsenal.

As others have reported, though, City and Arsenal seem to have other priorities, with the latter looking closely at Mateus Fernandes, while the former have had a bid rejected for Anderson but will try again. It’s a fluid situation, so it could of course change quickly, but I’m not convinced that Tonali is as much of a priority for those two as he is for United.

However, I also wouldn’t rule out Tonali staying at Newcastle. Even if he’s decided he wants to leave, they remain in a strong negotiating position, especially as they’ve already raised significant cash from selling Anthony Gordon to Barcelona.
