Read one report which said club is considering retaining 2 of Kepa Sanchez Jorgensen Penders and Petrovic and not get anyone in.

thta seems the most likely

the final 2 HAVE to be Penders and Petro IMHO

or Petro and Kepa and Penders on loan to Strasbourg

Sanchez and Jörgensen were disatrous buys

likely cost us CL and thus well over 50, 70m less quid (and no CL fucks us in recruiting)

fuck BlueCo, fuck our scouts

Good Morning Everyone,

As promised on last weeks pod, see below player profile on Mamadou Sarr!

Mamadou Sarr

Player profile;

Age: 19

Nationality: French (Uncapped)

Position: Centre Back (Right-footed)

Height: 6ft 5in

Sarr began his football career at Étoile Sportive de Saint-Laurent-Blangy, before joining Lens, where his father plays. He then moved to Lyon in 2018.

During the 2021–22 season, at only 16 years old, he established himself as a starter with Lyon under-19 team. In May 2023, Sarr made his professional debut in Lyon's 3–0 Ligue 1 victory against Reims as a substitute. January 2024, Sarr moved on loan to RWD Molenbeek in Belgium until the end of the 2023–24 season. In August 2024, Sarr joined Strasbourg for a transfer fee of €10M and signed a five-year contract.

Style of play;

Sarr is known for his strong defensive ability as well as his on the ball tendencies. He's considered a complete defender in terms of attributes he possesses, but one who can improve in all facets. He excels in tackling, marking, and aerial duels, while also having good passing skills and a decent level of athleticism.

Key Characteristics;

  • Solid Defender: He excels at tackling, marking, and winning aerial duels.

  • Ball-playing Center-back: He's comfortable with the ball at his feet and uses his passing to help build attacks.

  • Versatile: He can play as a center-back and defensive midfielder.

  • Physical presence: He's a tall player with good physical strength and stamina.

  • Good anticipation: He reads the game well and anticipates the play.

  • Composed in possession: He maintains his composure under pressure and is confident with the ball.

Strengths:

  • Tackling: He's known for his effective tackling.

  • Marking: He does a good job of marking his opponent.

  • Aerial duels: He is strong in the air and wins many aerial duels.

  • Passing: He has good passing accuracy and can distribute the ball effectively.

  • Anticipation: He reads the game well and anticipates the play.

  • Physicality: He is strong and physically imposing.

  • Composure: He stays composed under pressure.

Areas for improvement:

  • Concentration: He can sometimes lack concentration, leading to costly mistakes.

  • Nonchalance: He can be a bit too relaxed at times, which may improve with experience

A couple of clips below that are worth watching;

Verdict;

For £11.9m it is a really risk free signing, he comes with pedigree in French youth and now senior football and has the physical profile we require.

After doing some extensive research on the player I am now excited to see him in Blue. With the heavy ins and outs expected at centre back this summer he could come in and really help us! A CB unit that hypothetically looks like; Colwill, Huijsen, Tah, Sarr & Fofana would look great to me! Hypothetical I know…..

This is the window that will finally cement what they’re actually about. They’ve spent the past 3 years stockpiling teenagers and young players to “set us up for the next 10 years” or whatever. Fine, we’ve now got loads of ultra promising kids.

Have they now learned having watched this season that we desperately need some ready made, experienced players injected into the side? Or will they continue the same strategy and buy more 18-19 year olds?

Continuing on this same way after they’ve seen us collapse in the second half of the season due to inexperience and naivety will ensure that the exact same thing happens next season. We will be fighting for 5th again.

Arse, Liverpool, and City will be going out and signing 2-3 key players to complete their squads in a surgical way. If we don’t do the same we will be light years behind them once again next season.

We’ve got Estevão, Santos, and that midfielder from Sporting coming in. That’s enough youth. Get us some finished products now.

Agree -  two or three marque players, experienced, and above all that are leaders would remedy so much. Otherwise, we continue on the same trajectory.

Napoli Sporting Director Giovanni Manna has reportedly landed in London (via AreaNapoli) to work on 3 transfers:

🇨🇲 Zambo Anguissa → Chelsea (€20–25M)
🇳🇬 Victor Osimhen → Man United (€75M)

I call bullshit on the Anguissa link

why would be buy a soon to be 30yo (this autumn) CMF?

especially one who was nothing special at Fulham already

What I really want to know is who the fuck are we buying to be Captain?

We need an on field leader. International captain of a serious footballing country. That's the minimum Chelsea standard. Can't go another season without a proper captain.

Sancho signing seemingly more likely and a lot of talk of Petrovic coming back next season. Fucking hell. If we end up with Sancho and Petrovic starting every week next season… wow.

I think we should be starting a gofundme page to raise £5m for the club to pay United to make the deal not happen….

And the French CB Mamadou Sarr… didn’t we already sign him under Lampard 😂

What the fuck is the obsession with this club signing youngsters when it is absolutely plain to see we need leaders and experience? Every one can see this. These sporting directors and owners are an absolute cancer that needs to be cut out of this club….

I'm open minded Petrovic might have improved - but he definitely wasn't good enough when he was with us (I don't waste my life watching Strasbourg so can't say, but hear he's improved significantly)

Both my heart and head tell me that we need GK and 2 CBs though. Petrovic maybe a backup and competition. Can't be a serious team without serious players in those positions.

Petrovic had some saves in that first run of games he got which probably got folk excited but in terms of the basics, so blatant he is an average goalkeeper. Like he is a number 2 for sure - anyone thinking he can come in as a number 1 for a team that should be competing for Europe is having a laugh.

I’d have Kepa over him and we all know Kepa isn’t particularly brilliant.

It is scary when you look and teams like Everton, Nottingham Forest, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Southampton, Brentford and Brighton probably all have better GKs than we do on top of the usual clubs with the big GKs. I mean not one of those GKs is worse than Sanchez or Jorgensen. Or Petrovic. Not seen Penders so no clue but doubt he is the next Courtois based on the amount of guys this mob have signed who are so average.

Agree on CBs. Genuinely surprised Colwill wasn’t made vice captain when they made James captain though 😂

Southampton's GK?    Ramsdale is no different to Sanchez, both blatantly average keepers.   Even Pickford isn't amazing, he's sort of like Kepa, has the saves in him but lacks the build/frame that you want in a GK.

I wouldn't trust the current scouts/directors we have in place to sign that top-class GK.

They would be more interested in splashing the cash on Liverpool's #2 keeper than an actual decent one like Costa.

We used to shop at M&S we now shop at Poundland

They will find what they think is a gem for 15M, he will come in, play one game in the Carabao Cup, need help putting his gloves on, get tied up in the net during play, miss his mouth when taking a drink from his water bottle and concede 4 goals......Maresca will then praise him hugely and tell us he starts the next game

🟡Benoit Badiashile has been placed in the STAY at Chelsea category.🤢

🟤One of the factors behind Chelsea considering signing a new CB is because of Fofana’s injury issues. He is still highly regarded at the club, but given he has started just 26 PL games since joining from Leicester City, they have to factor in his injury record.

️Chelsea are thinking about Mamadou Sarr staying on loan at Strasbourg for a season so he can develop further.

🟣Aaron Anselmino will be loaned out next season and there is interest from Champions League and Europa League clubs.

🔴There is a more of a question mark over Tosin and whether he is content with a back-up role.

🟠Axel Disasi and Renato Veiga are for SALE.

As part of the agreement with Disasi advisors, Chelsea promised to work together to find a permanent transfer for him in the next window.

Chelsea are likely to listen to offers for #Veiga to make a sizeable profit.

🔵Trevoh Chalobah is for SALE

Chalobah will be a different story because Chelsea tried to sell the academy graduate last summer.

He has played 27 times for Chelsea & Palace this season. This will help Chelsea’s chances of receiving a decent permanent fee.

️Levi Colwill is still being monitored by many teams. But sources insist the England international is not for sale.

‼️The signing of the new Central defender depends on exits. Those on the shortlist are:

1. Bournemouth CB, Dean Huijsen
2. Crystal Palace CB, Marc Guehi
3. Everton CB, Jarrad Branthwaite
