Summary:

1. Cucurella likely to join Chelsea. Tuchel sees cucurella as someone who can provide cover at LCB, LB and LWB.

2. Colwill could end up moving the other way, likely in a separate deal, with a buyback clause included.

3. Cucurella's arrival could facilitate departure of Alonso, Sarr has interest from Fulham and Ligue 1, he has been told he can't leave until another defender comes in. Should Cucurella deal not happen, Gvardiol will be an option.

4. Fofana is more of a pure CB target, price between £80m-£85m. Bar Colwill and potentially Broja, difficult to see the players Boehly can offer.

5. Dumfries could be a more swifter deal, considering Inter's need to raise funds, and talks with PSG for the sale of Skriniar being stalled over price, the move could allow for the exit of Azpilicueta to Barca.

6. Tuchel admirer of De jong, De jong prefers to stay at Barca and collect his money, if De Jong is to be persuaded to leave, the impression is that a move to Chelsea would be more desirable than Manchester United.

7. Werner's preference is to go back to Germany, perhaps to RB Leipzig, in order for it to happen, Werner would need to take a sizeable wage sacrifice like Lukaku

8. Kepa's loan to Napoli expected to be finalised in a matter of days. An asking price of €35m-€40m attracted no interest across Europe. An option to buy is possible but an obligation is unlikely.

Requesting €35-€40m for Kepa is just pure insanity if true.

With all the rumours swirling around, definitely seems to be a lot of moving parts on the go at Chelsea and it is important to strike that balance between securing deals in place for both incomings and outgoings fluidly so we're not left with either too many or too few in areas of the pitch.

Cucurella joining will almost certainly allow Emerson and Alonso to move on, but there also seems to be strong links away for Sarr, Colwill and Azpi. So even if we bring Fofana or Gvardiol in as a major centre back signing, we'll be bringing in 2 to see potentially 5 leave in the defence. I guess with the flexibility of James and Cucurella being able to play in the back 3, it should give us enough but then we also need to ensure we have sufficient cover at wing back in case either of these have to play a sustained period in the back 3 due to injuries.

I think a move for an attacker will only happen once we know the situation with the likes of Werner and Ziyech. If a couple get moved on we'll likely go back to the market for someone but if only Werner leaves, I could see a situation where we stick with what we have, especially if there are no obvious options on the market.

Yet another quality singning Marc curcurella if we get the deal done fingers crossed. I've always  been super impressed everytime i've seen him play thinking to myself It wont be long till the big clubs come asking for him. Chilwells injury leaves question marks and alonso has always been brilliant going forward but defensively he's sort of a weak link. So this deal kills two bird in one stone.

Assuming the WB stay fit we might get by another season with this attack, before Chilwell got injured we were very good in attack.

We had a striker Lukaku. Good or bad that made a difference to our attack

Stay with alonso then if you have doubts about cucurella 🤣

Where did I say do not buy him?

Neither Hakimi nor Theo are available, and Raum is off the board.

I would rather buy Maxwel Cornet though for LWB/RW

around £25m less and more versatile

I also still rate Borna Sosa as well

I am not alone:

Manchester City To Focus On Borna Sosa If Marc Cucurella Deal Falls Through

finally, there are Filip Kostic and Robin Gosens as well

but I will certainly not lose my mind if we buy Cucurella

he is just really expensive for very little goal/assist production (unlike ALL of my other names)

From Ake to Kounde to Cucurella. We are determined to bring in the shortest possible LCB cover lol

Let’s just hope it never comes to this

would like to see Cucurella’s sharp running and ability on the ball rather than his inability to defend crosses

Your math is a little bit off - Rudiger, Christensen, Azpi, Sarr out makes it 4 leaves (Colwill was not here last season so he shouldn't count).

Koulibaly, Fofana/Gvardiol, Ampadu makes it 3. 3 for 4 sounds much better than 2 for 5.

Talking about center backs I don't know if our scouts ever had a look in at these guys.

Jurrien Timber(Can play Cb and Rwb well enough) - Ajax

Goncalo Ignacio - Sporting co

Morato (very strong guy) - Benfica

Nico Schlotterbeck(was quality last season) - Frieburg

Sven Botman - Lille

Maxence Lacroix - Wolfsburg

Cornet  was really good at Lyon and is a great athlete. Would not mind him at all. Pl proven as well. Borna sosa would be a gamble. I like his technique and attacking drive. Better than Raum imo. But not as fast. Sosa is a deluxe version of Alonso. Which is not bad at all.

My feeling is we go for Cucurella bc he is the best defender out of those . Not sure if that is the correct strategy given we lack goals but we will see what cucu does with better players around him.

personally I find all of maehle, cornet, sosa, Raum more exciting (and relatively much  better deals)  than Cucurella, still I am ok with that dwarf

RLC is such a frustrating case. He has played every single outfield position for us and never looked bad. Never really convinced apart from that Sarri purple patch but also never looked out of his depth anywhere.  Crazy athleticism, size, strength , silky touch. Just not smart, decisive, durable and energetic enough. Like that smart kid in school who never bothered to learn or speak up and ended up working for their Dad. So much wasted potential.

Yeah but whichever way you look at it we're still dependent on a wing back from either side being capable and comfortable playing in the back 3 to provide cover as if the incomings and outgoings take shape as being reported we'll have 5 centre backs at the club in a back 3 system and one of those will be 38 years old.
