Chelsea Transfers

If you cannot get players like Werner, Sancho etc in Jan then just try and get a Bale or James on loan. Signing Zaha even for £40m plus Batsh*t on £150k plus a week is madness. Zaha is an archetypal mid table club player. If we sign him he will be a dud.

Lampard said he has had “very open” conversations about transfer priorities with the director, Marina Granovskaia, and before Saturday’s Premier League fixture with Bournemouth, laid out what he believes are the essential qualities in any signing.

“I have had very open conversations with Marina which is speaking to the owner as far as I’m concerned,” Lampard said. “I can speak to either of those, but mainly Marina. And the scouting department, and Petr Cech. I sit with my staff daily for hours, we also talk about the team and how we can improve, and at some points you start thinking about the longer term future. The conversations have been very open to this point so I am happy with it. But of course we haven’t bought anyone.”

Asked about the qualities any arrivals must have, Lampard said: “Work ethic. A capacity to run and then a desire to do it, because they are not always the same thing. A will to win and to be successful at the club. Of course we want to sign talented players, that’s obvious, but [attitude] is a huge thing for me because if you look at it, and people keep talking about balance and [not to] upset the squad, then we want people to come here with a real intention to be a success.”

40m plus Batshuayi is a fair deal for Zaha I think.

No idea why people are comparing Zaha to Batshuayi anyway. Ones a very decent winger (still better out there for 80m) and ones one of the worst all round CFs in the PL imo.

If the ball isnt in the box or straight into his feet 9/10 times he is about as effective as a chocolate ashtray. People say Sergio Aguero hasnt got a very good all round game (not sure I agree) but fucking hell if thats the case then whats it say about Batshuayi. Hopeless.

Id imagine Palace would prefer Giroud to Batshuayi anyway. Least you get more.

Ashley Cole tells Chelsea FC to sign ‘quality’ 22-year-old

Ashley Cole wants to see Chelsea FC seal a deal to sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City

https://www.thesportreview.com/2019/12/chelsea-fc-news-frank-lampard-cole-chilwell/

Ashley Cole has admitted that he would love to see Chelsea FC sign Ben Chilwell from Leicester City.

The Foxes defender has been earning lots of praise for his solid performances for Leicester City this season and Cole thinks he would be a good fit for Chelsea FC.

The Blues are now of course free to sign players in the January transfer window after their ban was overturned by the Court of Arbitration for Sport last week.

Chelsea FC are bound to be linked with a host of players in the coming weeks as Frank Lampard considers bolstering his squad ahead of the second half of the campaign.

Chilwell has been in good form for Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City team this season and he has scored one goal and made three assists in the Premier League so far.

The fact he uses long-term future gives me hope he wants someone young like Sancho to grow up with the team and not some dud like Zaha, thinking who he should replace him with in a season or two.

They want 80m for Zaha. Giroud with 6 months left on contract in January will cost 6-7m max due to his age.

When arsenal bid 40mil, CP said they want 70m. I dont know where you are getting the 80mil quote. Moreover thats their asking price, does not mean thats what he will go for. Like people have said 40m + Michy would be a good deal. Michy has just 1.5 years on his contract so will be going for a bargain anyways in 6 months.

But he has also mentioned numerous times about having balance in the squad, which could mean he's wary of playing too many young players in the squad.

Quote

Red Bull Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund has confirmed star forward Erling Haaland has held transfer talks with both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig with a view to a possible January move.

The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in European football this season, excelling for the Austrian outfit in the UEFA Champions League.

Naturally, transfer speculation regarding Haaland has intensified, and reports recently surfaced suggesting that the player had held talks with two Bundesliga sides. Freund told the press on Thursday that the teenager had been in negotiations with both Dortmund and Leipzig, per James Westwood of Goal.

"We are involved in all discussions," he said. "Of course, we also knew that Haaland was in Leipzig and Dortmund yesterday. Everyone in Salzburg wants the best for him."

According to Fabrizio Romano and Marcus Christenson of the Guardian, the striker has a release clause of around £21.2 million.

It's added that while the Bundesliga clubs have held discussions with the youngster, both Manchester United and Juventus remain interested in the Norwegian and will seek to talk to him about a transfer.

Per Westwood, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc refused to address the speculation on Thursday. "Neither to this nor to other personalities I will comment," he said. "The focus is on our game in Mainz. To everything else there is no comment."

Salzburg's sporting director has confirmed Haaland has held talks with both Dortmund and Leipzig for January move. If Haaland goes to Leipzig, Werner would be available to buy in Jan.

Werner available in January? Says who?

Very possible since Haaland has low release clause.

Leipzig are likely planning ahead for the inevitable departure of Werner. But they have no reason to sell in January when (a) they are still in all competitions (unlikely they will win the Champions League but still), (b) they have a good chance to win the Bundesliga and (c) "use" Werner to give Haaland time to settle into the team. Furthermore, the European Championship is coming up next summer. Why would Werner risk throwing away all the momentum and good work he's done this season to move in January and not getting selected for the tournament? IIRC, he spoke something about this recently. Unless he's guaranteed a first team place - ahead of Abraham for example (I doubt it) - he won't move next month. He's comfortable where he is at the moment at Leipzig, starting week in week out and scoring for fun. If anything, a club may try to do a Pulisic-type deal for Werner in January.

Haaland already said he will only move to a club who can guaranteed him a starter place. If Leipzig decide to buy him in Jan, they would definitely sell Werner.

In the long run, of course. Playing as backup here and there (Nagelsmann might even just play both him and Werner together) for 6 months is hardly gonna be an issue.

We can probably get £20-30m for Bats in a cash transfer to CP. They cannot score goals and he is popular their with the fans (my Dad's side of family are all season ticket holders.) Selling him for cash in Jan makes sense as his contract is running down. Giving him to Palace plus another £40m is eqivilent to giving Palace £60-70m for a second rate player.

Pretty sure he is going to Utd. He will be first choice CF there as Rashford and Martial can play wide and they will give him insane wages. Plus he grew up in that neck of the woods.
