Tortilla9 390
Man, this one hurts. As I type this my daughter is sleeping on the couch after having her acl reconstructed this morning (this is her second one). She's doped up (thank God!), bandaged up, thigh to ankle knee brace on. I read this thread with more than a little personal interest. My daughter is a center mid like Essien and like Essien her luck with injuries has been absolute sh*t. If it weren't for bad luck she'd have no luck at all. From personal observance, the mind is willing but the body sometimes isn't. Knee stiffness, over compensation on other body parts to protect the knee resulting in little aggravating injuries of other parts, performance inconsistency, mental block over possible reinjury. For us, it was a year after getting back out on the field (not surgery) before she finally felt 100%. I wish Essien the best of luck. My daughter's surgeon asked this morning if she was ready to give up football. I said not yet. He said "it's hard to have it taken away from you". For Essien's sake I hope it's not taken away from him and I hope to seem him back on the pitch again.

Hopefully they both have to have this surgery on for the last time and they can carry on doing what they love.
Guest justin_3d
I love Essien a lot, and wish he would stay with us for a long time, but as I said in the past, once injuries recover in six months, and if he does good, then he will have to be sold next season. This has gone long enough. Weather it's next season, or the season following that, Essien will have to be sold.Does not matter if he has a phenomenal recovery after 6 months and help us win at the end. Bosnian Blue 2,471
This type of injury is the worst in football.Sometimes it is even better to brake a leg than to injure crucial ligaments.Hope he recoveres and his knee gets well.
ZanSnake 1,211
Di Matteo was in his 6th Season when he fucked up his leg, and he was forced to retire because of it. And now, Essien is in his 6th season, and plays in the same position.....

Joker10 946
Good luck selling Essien, because i can't think of team dumb enough to buy him with his injuries. Wish Essien the best.
Kez 2,727
I fear this could be the end for Ess. Seriously hope I'm wrong and he comes back just as strong. He'll be a big miss this season.

Domino- 116
Hope is not something serious, because the lack of Essien is serious enough problem that will be hard to handle, now remains Cech be out for a long time.

SeanO 7
I haven't seen this any where so I thought I'd post it. Tendonitis forces Chelsea defender David Luiz out of Brazil friendly against GermanyChelsea defender David Luiz will not be fit to take part in Brazil's showpiece friendly against Germany in Stuttgart on Wednesday. Luiz, who represented his country in the recent Copa America in Argentina, has a minor knee problem and will now focus on ensuring his full fitness for the start of the Premier League season next week."Defender David Luiz, who has tendonitis in his left knee, is unavailable for the Brazilian national team's friendly against Germany," read a statement on the Brazilian football federation website.Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas acknowledged the problem followingthe club's 3-1 friendly win over Rangers on Saturday afternoon but does not believe it is too serious."David Luiz should get back to training soon," he told Chelsea's official website. "He felt a slight pain in his knee in his first training session after he came back."It's something he didn't feel in the Copa America and it's not the reason why he didn't play. That was just the manager's decision."But he's only had half-an-hour training with us, although he should get back this week to full training."Chelsea begin their season with a trip to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City next Sunday.
