LDN Blue 7,903
John Terry to see Italian specialist over leg injuryJohn Terry has flown to Italy with Chelsea's club doctor to see a specialist about his mystery leg injury, BBC Sport understands. The England defender, 29, has been struggling with a nerve problem in his right leg which could keep him on the sidelines for months. So far no-one has been able to identify what is wrong with the centre-back.Terry is understood to have flown out to Italy with Chelsea doctor Bryan English on Wednesday morning. The injury forced Terry to miss Sunday's 3-0 defeat by Sunderland and he also pulled out of England's friendly against France on Wednesday.A Chelsea source told BBC Sport on Tuesday: "It could be months [until he's fit], although that's the pessimistic view. We don't know the root of the pain."He can't keep struggling, so he has to get to the source of the problem."Terry's fellow-centre-back Alex has been ruled out for up to two months.Chelsea revealed that the Brazilian will be out for "approximately six to eight weeks" to undergo exploratory arthroscopic surgery on his injured knee in the coming days.Having already missed the club's matches against Fulham and Sunderland, Alex withdrew from the Brazil squad for Wednesday's friendly with Argentina. LDN Blue 7,903
Is Alex as injured as we thought? I thought I was imagining this earlier on but check this out..Chelsea angry over Alex sub appearanceChelsea will seek talks with the Brazilian FA over why centre-back Alex was named as a substitute for Brazil's friendly international against Argentina in Doha. The defender was told he would require an operation on his knee by both the club and the national team's medical staff, but warmed up at the Khalifa International Stadium before taking his place on the bench on Wednesday night.Chelsea had said: "Further to the Chelsea medical team's diagnosis, the Brazilian national team doctors agree that further investigation via arthroscopic surgery is required on the player's right knee. That will take place over the coming days."Brazil coach Mano Menezes did not use Alex in the game, but Chelsea are believed to be angry that he was asked to warm up, especially with the injury crisis currently engulfing Stamford Bridge. LDN Blue 7,903
Menezes explains Alex stanceBrazil boss Mano Menezes claims Chelsea were fully aware that Alex would be involved in international action on Wednesday. The centre-half was a surprise inclusion in the Brazil squad for their friendly with Argentina in Doha, given that his club have all but written him off until next year with a knee injury.Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed on Tuesday that Alex may require surgery to resolve the issue, ruling him out for up to eight weeks. However, the commanding defender took a place on the bench for his national side in midweek and was involved in the pre-match warm-up.Chelsea are reported to be unimpressed at the treatment of their player, but Menezes insists he ran his plans by the Premier League outfit before sending Alex out.IntegrityHe claims it is now up to the Blues whether they send the 28-year-old for an operation, sidelining him for the foreseeable future."I am happy to explain because we have a good relationship with the clubs and try to preserve above all the player's integrity," said Menezes."There was a consultation between the Chelsea doctor and our national team doctor, whose opinion was that it would be good for Alex to practise and maybe play a few minutes (he stayed on the bench throughout)."It's a decision for Chelsea whether to have surgery and when to have it."How badly injured is he? :S

LDN Blue 7,903
So Terry's injury has been diagnosed as "a problem on the piriformis, a muscle in the gluteal region at the base of the back"Carlo: 'It is tight and the nerve moved in this muscle, so for this reason he feels pain,' Ancelotti explained. 'Now we have to relax this muscle, it is not true he has to stay out for a month, we have to look at his situation day by day. Today he has pain, he will not be involved in the game tomorrow, but maybe it can happen in the next game he is able to play.'
