ESSIEN UPDATE

Following injury to his right knee in training last week Michael Essien had surgery today to repair a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus.

The surgery was successful and Michael's full recovery could take up to six months.

Andre Villas-Boas said: 'Everyone at Chelsea wishes Michael well for his recovery. His team-mates and all the staff and I look forward to helping him return to playing as soon as possible.'

Somehow i knew it would be serious again,i hope he gets back but he became way to injury prone to be playing from week to week in many competitions and on a high level.

Hope he comes back strong! Last season was a bad time for him to come back, the whole team having a bad season made his own performances stand out as worse. Had no time to really overcome.
