the wes 7,212
JOSE MOURINHO is planning a double swoop on Chelsea this summer - with Ricardo Carvalho and Mikel John Obi in his sights in a combined £21million move. Inter Milan chief Mourinho is hoping to capitalise on the uncertainty surrounding Chelsea at the end of this season, as the club waits for a new manager to take over, by swooping for some of the players he first signed for the Blues. Centre-back Carvalho, 31, has played only two games in the last four months because of a hamstring problem, but Mourinho is set to offer around £6m for a player who is rated as one of the best defenders in the Premier League. Inter have already had talks with Chelsea about Portugal star Carvalho who was one of the first players Mourinho signed – from his old club Porto – when he arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2004, and was a key part of the side he led to back-to-back league titles. Mourinho, who has also targeted £25m-rated midfielder Mikel, wants to move in and grab players before Chelsea’s new manager - expected to be Carlo Ancelotti - gets in and becomes fully acquainted with his squad. Chelsea will be reluctant to let Carvalho go but a potential replacement has already been lined up in Porto’s £15m Bruno Alves. Carvalho’s poor injury record this season will also be a factor, and with new arrivals sure to come in over the summer, the club could decide to cash in. Inter have already had talks with Mikel’s agent John Shittu, with the Italians offering about £15m. Mikel, 22, was signed by Mourinho for Chelsea in 2006, but was expected to be offered a new deal by the club at the end of this season. His current deal runs out in 2011 and he has been offered a highly lucrative five-year contract by Inter, having fallen behind Michael Essien and Michael Ballack under Guus Hiddink. Madmax 9,219
From Vital Chelsea"John Obi is very unhappy.""He is 100 per cent fit but is being overlooked and is too good a player to be sitting on the bench or, worse, in the stands.""He can`t understand it as he was one of the first names on Carlo`s team-sheet last season when the team won the Double.""He needs to play more. He loves Chelsea but he may have to leave Stamford Bridge in the summer if he is no longer a part of Ancelotti`s plans."Apparently some tabloid mentions a source supposedly close to Mikel, and also refers to a £25 million figure, with United and Real interested...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................Seems like a slow news day at the office. But with Ramires in such fine form and Lampard back from injury, Mikel's not going to get too much game time barring injuries/suspension. True_Blue 469
I agree with him,he performed when the rest of the squad was shit.He was benched because a bigger player was back from injury. In a way i can understand his frustration.

HRiver 1,512
Mikel is a great player, but he can't be a starter in our current midfield. Ramires can't be benched obviously, he is in great form. Essien's returning to his old form and you can't play Mikel instead of him.It is impossible to find a place for him in the team's starting eleven. Just shows how much we lack an attacking midfielder...Lamps wouldn't be in this side if we had one.
BlueLion. 21,491
If we get anything in the region of £30 million I think we should seriously consider selling him. I am a fan of Mikel and I believe he is underrated, but Ancelotti has made it very clear that Essien and Ramires and an out-of-form and not-yet-fully-fit Lampard are all ahead of him in the pecking order. ZanSnake 1,211
I will be dissapointed if he EXPECTS to be a first eleven starter at his age. He should earn the oppertunity, in my opion, and i am sure Carlo is going to rotate the midfeild center (Essien starts big game, Mikel starts week before big game or smaller teams, etc.). He is a quality player, but he is also still young. He can be useful in some style of play in order to tactically break down a team, maybe he wil get time from that and then if he exceeds the role given he can gain more playing time. If we sell him though, i wouldn't be too happy if Man Ure were the team he went for, especially with all the shit we went through to get him here and the rivalry we have with them. Also, IF he leaves, McErhan should be 'promoted' in his place, rather then buying another player. But i do hope that Mikel can wait for the summer to make his final decision rather then to dwell on the fact that he is being sidelined for players that are playing in more form then himself. Clevemayer 764
same talk as ever and for this one thinnking mikel should be sold on 25 Mio, a big LoL :lolwave:but to be serious I'm a bit afraid of this dilemma, cause carlo has shown he has no faith...is Mikel currently better than Ramires = NoLamps? = Yesthan Ess? = Yesso he has a point if he really thinks about leaving...
