shame he`s essentially retired from competitive football still in his 20`s and with no health concerns. the time has come for him to depart atleast a season ago.but would think he could start for a lot of bigger clubs playing in better competitions.

no need to buy any midfielders unless somebody higher up the pecking order departs,imo we should just give his place in the squad to one of our youngsters.

Mikel`s contribution last season was nothing. we are hardly gonna fall apart. we have Matic,Fabregas,Ramires,Oscar for experienced midfielders.if we are gonna totally block any path to the matchday squad by signing somebody experienced to play sparingly instead of giving that experience to the likes of Chalobah,RLC,Baker,Van Ginkel etc.. then we will be making a big mistake.

If he leaves, farewell, I would keep a lot of amazing memories from his spell here, but two the most defining :

- How he was holding our midfield alone in the 2010-2011 season ( he had the second best pass ratio to Carrick in the League ), even with all the problems we had ( Lamps and Essien injured, Ballack and Deco gone, Ramires still haven't found his marks on the PL, etc. )

- His beast performance on May 19th 2012, amazing.
