Clevemayer 764
It is as simple as this ,if this plays today we could struggle ,did nothing at West Ham and at Basle where he should have protected the back four he was missing. The question still remains ,what the fook does he do?at least annoy you and earn a shitlot of money ?

Phil Driver 503
No pressure on him at West Ham it was a stroll ,how did he do at Basle and Spurs when the back four needed protecting? Jose is not stupid he needs to sell him and get rid of a drain on the wage bill. He can only hide in games where we are not put under pressure or we have the whole team defending and doing his job for him.

Phil Driver 503
He never touched the ball ,good for him though and played in his proper position for Eighty minutes . Mourinho got team selection and tactics spot on and he was not the right player to replace Oscar after his dreadful performance in Basle . OneMoSalah 8,886
Surprised Essien started and Mikel didn't, with Southamptons energy and high pressing I thought he would have been nailed on to start given his retention and shielding of the ball is very very good. Also on Lampard coming on, I was also surprised given that we normally play 4-2-3-1 and had Willian and Schurrle on the bench but it looked like we went to a 4-3-3 more than anything. Still a very very good second half performance by the team.

Still a very very good second half performance by the team. His shielding of the ball is indeed quite good, but we all seem to disagree on how important that skill is, esp when he brings little/nothing else. I reckon it is also not very important to Mourinho either, especially having seen how his teams tend to play: quicker more direct style.I just can't see Mikel fitting in that quick/direct style Mourinho typically employs where possession is really not that important (suffice to see our possession numbers so far in the season). I particularly don't like Jose's style so much, but he's the top manager so...

Phil Driver 503
He is meant to come on and kill the game ,we are too deep and believe it or not they nearly equalise ,very bad again and we just sit back and let the opposition come at us ,when he gets it we are to slow and cant break . Blue Armour 4,439
Was quite lazy to keep up with Ireland for the second Stoke goal. Terry was screaming and waving for a player to mark Ireland when he went out to block the incoming cross, but Mikel just jogged back (like he did against Juventus last season) and failed to stay with his closest attacker. Its no wonder he doesn't start more often. Phil Driver 503
No proper defensive midfielder (that is what we are told he is) lets a player go past him so easily and he did let him go.Makelele would be turning in his grave if he were brown bread. Put him under pressure and he will fold. Got to do more to tackle Ireland or hold him up ,even a foul is better than watching him walk through.
