Share Posted July 16, 2014 He's not a nothing player, but fuck know's what role he plays for any top European club....and that was pretty much my view for the last few years when others would say that simply by virtue of being picked by a few managers (who were all sacked) he was one of the best holding midfielders in Europe.I think I've said it before but I'll say it again. He was groomed to be Makelele's replacement and he almost achieved that, but the game moved on and passed him by. He's become a weirdly one-dimensional player who offers stability over expansive, progressive play and there aren't many top teams who will want a player like that.£5 million is a surprisingly low fee which becomes less surprising when you actually look at what he offers. It's better just to be shot of a player who clearly does not fit the squad profile. He takes up valuable playing time the likes of MVG could be occupying.I'm still skeptical if we'll even manage to get a buyer, but listening to some in here over the years we should have a queue around the corner for him! He has like two stars!Spoiler alert - contains information about FM design and implementation...FM has a design flaw: there is no distinction between short and long passing, just a flat passing attribute - same with jumping btw.Well mikel happens to have 18/20 in passing (FM12)!!!! So FM has mikel as one of the best passers in its database and yet his long balls are the worst in RL! His passing accuracy also goes down once he moves up the pitch; his technique on FM is also too high for how pedestrian and slow he is on the ball.You might think I am exaggerating but we are talking about a player who has a couple? of goals and ZERO assists in how many years playing for the club.FM needs a revamp in its database system and it's Match engine, but we only get updates at full price. Pizy 18,907 Posted July 26, 2014 Share Posted July 26, 2014 I had just about forgotten that he was still with us.He was warming the bench most of last season with Lamps, Ramires, and Luiz in midfield. Can't imagine him playing more than that this season now that MvG is fit. Plus the possibility of Romeu staying (doubtful).He must be very satisfied with his wage.
