your conflating positions

Golovin is an AMF or even can play winger but also can be really hard-nosed at trackbacks

Seri is a very good dribbling pure CMF with oki but not great defensive skills

Vecino is like a less offensive CMF with DMF tendencies and is not a great passer (I can confirm, however, he is better on the ball than Bakayoko, but then again so is my wife (she played girls footie in public school) lolol

they are not at all similar players (Golovin and Seri are closer in type than vecino to either).

Only Golovin will get you a few goals (and then not enough IMHO) , Seri 2 years ago (7) was a fluke, he is more like a 1, 2,3 a year goal scorer

he also has never really played on a pressing club

I will be honest, I dont TRULY rate any of them

if forced, I would take Golovin, because he is only 22 (b day was 2 months ago)

5 years from now, Seri is 32, same for Vecino (he turns 27 in August)

So with all that said why does it seem that Sarri is so gung ho for Vecino? It cant be purely because he was in one of his teams. There has to be other options he could have asked for yet this chap is apparently off of his 1st ants list.

He really must rate him

That's the £30m question.

I completely understand why he wants Rugani (who I do rate, unlike most on here, although I would rather have Caldara I think, maybe, it's a tossup, therefore I defer to Sarri)

But as for Vecino,  to quote Churchill

It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma

As long as Sarri has one of the Enigma machines it will all be fine then cause I can't ever see our board laying out £250k for one!

Knowing Granny she will think a £5k knockoff will do the job then we will be fucked again

Is he creative? because if I understand the system we now would need to have a creative/offensive player in the 3 with Jorginho (the back line brain in the 3) and Kante (save our asses & destroy the opposition genius) ...

Are we venturing into the unknown now because Sarri knows a player? Purely based on what I read here, Vecino doesnt sounds like the player we need when we have a Barkley and RLC available.

He is not very creative at all, from any of the 10 games or so I have seen him play. He is a bog standard holding CMF

I am very underwhelmed by him. He also was one of the few Uruguayans on the pitch who struggled in the World Cup other than their GK and some of the subs. Indecisive, errant with passes, didn't do well marking

He was subbed out for Lucas Torreira almost ever game.

His rating from the France game

New average player, We will not be able to return to the Champions League

Spalletti is now trying to pull the deal, he doesn't want to let Vecino go.

Inter Coach Spalletti Reluctant To Part Ways With Chelsea Target Matias Vecino

https://sempreinter.com/2018/07/31/inter-coach-spalletti-reluctant-to-part-ways-with-chelsea-target-matias-vecino/

Chelsea is not giving up on Matia Vecino, but for newly appointed Chelsea coach Sarri it will not be easy to bring the Uruguayan to London according to Corriere dello Sport.

The Rome-based broadsheet reports that “Inter considers Vecino as a key player and Spalletti, who has done a great job on transforming him into a midfielder capable of combining the two phases of attack and defence does not want to give up on him.”

Should Spalletti be forced to say goodbye to the player, he expects him to be replaced by a player with at least the same value or even a so called top-player.

After the post World Cup vacation, Vecino returned to work with the group yesterday. Should he leave Inter, Inter Sporting Director Piero Ausilio will not be unprepared as the paper reports that: “Kovacic is the dream transfer, as Paredes the ideal playmaker for Spalletti, but neither of them have the characteristics of Vecino which would mean a change in the way of playing.”

From what I gather he would come in as the alternative to Kante. Ball winning, engine in the midfield.

I expect this role was earmarked for Bakayoko before Sarri realised he has no hope.

The biggest problem I have with this signing is we have holes in our starting XI to fill which will significantly improve and upgrade the overall level of the team. Both the money and time being wasted on this deal has a direct negative impact as a result. Concentrate on getting in another signing or two of the Jorginho ilk and then if the squad needs filling out do that at the end of the window. We seem to prioritise the wrong way around.
