Real Madrid will not let him leave for less than €75m according to todays news in Spain. That's £58m. A good player? Yes. Worth that much? No way if you ask me. Madness if any club gets near that amount. He's probably a £30m player at max.

I like him a lot but you are right, €75m is out of the question.

If the numbers we are reading are correct, then it seems selling clubs have taken a look at the new TV deal and lost all sense of reality with their demands for transfer fees. There is only one way to deal with this effectively, just don't pay. If that means walking away from the player then so be it. Premier League clubs as a whole need to take a stand or they will continue to shovel huge proportions of their cash into the pockets of continental clubs. I'm tempted to call those clubs greedy, but they are entitled to ask whatever they want for their players. If English sides are dumb enough to pay those fees then more fool them. Having said that however...

I'd be quite surprised if Real have not received acceptable offers for the player and the whole deal, including the resale, has not already been put in place.

  • Alvaro Morata could move to England this summer according to his agent
  • Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham are all said to be interested in the striker
  • Real Madrid brought Morata back to the club after exercising a clause in his contract, having spent two seasons in with Serie-A champions Juventus
  • The Spanish giants will now look to sell the 23-year-old on for a large profit

Do you really think he's that good for this big money? im not sure..

And what buying him means? playing him together with Costa in 4-4-2?

He's good, not 58 mill good. Realistically the 58 mill good players can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Yes, general opinion is that we'll play 4-4-2 next season.

But how can we play 4-4-2 with Cesc? Conte surely wont play Cesc with only one CM next to him.

A diamond formation is the only way, and that means Hazard/Willian wont play, something like this:

---Matic---
Cesc-Kante
---Hazard--
Costa-Morata

Yes, that's the only doubt I have about the 4-4-2 Where does Cesc fit? Although I wouldn't be surprised to see him there, at least for the first few games, until Conte realizes it's not a viable option.
We can fantasize about the formation all we want, ultimately we'll get a general idea of what shape we're going to take in 1 month :)

Balague: "Arsenal, #Chelsea and United want Alvaro Morata, but the first to put an offer in seems to be #Chelsea - about €50million.“ [Sky]

Juanma Lopez (Agent): "Alvaro Morata still has offers from top clubs in the Premier League. We’ll see, we have to talk to Zidane.“ [AS]

Again, how does it make any sense that United would be after Morata? They'll have Zlatan and Rashford, why sign another ultra expensive striker that would diminish Rashford's development even more? Zlatan will not go anywhere to be a part timer and will be first on Mourinho's team sheet every week. That already means Rashford will be a squad player. Bringing in Morata for £40m or more? May as well loan Rashford out because as we saw first hand here José doesn't rotate his striker often.

The only PL clubs that Morata really makes sense for are ourselves and Arsenal.
