Because in a lot of cases surgery is the last option because it's usually the slowest recovery time. As an example I read that Lloris is just about to have elbow surgery for his injury but he suffered that about a month ago. The club have clearly exhausted all possibilities to deal with this groin issue and have now decided surgery is the best option. Trust the experts. Hopefully this will clear things up for Rudiger and help getting him back fit and on the pitch. Even if the transfer ban remains in place, if we can have a fit Rudiger and RLC returning for the second half of the season that will be a huge boost. Jase 43,479
Assuming Rudiger's time frame recovery is as reported, then the international break has come at the right time and it should mean he'll be back for the crazy December period. Vesper 30,178
Why Rudiger is likely to end up being out for longer than three more weeks http://londonfootballnews.co.uk/chelsea/why-rudiger-is-likely-to-end-up-being-out-for-longer-than-three-more-weeks/ Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger seems unlikely to return within the next month following surgery on a groin problem. Rudiger this week saw a consultant who advised that an operation would be the best course of action. Speaking at a press conference on Friday afternoon, Chelsea manager Frank Lampard said the German is likely to be out for around three more weeks. However, Lampard also suggested that Rudiger would then need more time before he is ready to return to first-team action. “He had an operation and he’s going to be out probably for around three weeks,” Lampard explained. “Then we’ll have to see where the match fitness comes in, because it’s a long time Toni’s been out now.” Nevertheless, Lampard is pleased that Rudiger’s injury appears to have finally been addressed. The centre-back, previously troubled by a knee problem, has played only once this season and Chelsea have been trying to get him fit for several weeks. “It was nice to get something definitive about it. We’ve been trying to find a solution,” Lampard said. “Toni’s been having some issues and it’s not easy for a player in that position. “Hopefully in three weeks’ time we’ll be in a lot better place.” Johnnyeye

MoroccanBlue 5,382
The fuck happened to him? Where is he?? Jesus it's as if he tore his ACL or something. He's been gone for ages for what looked like a seemingly unserious injury. We need him before Spurs and Arsenal.
