Well it looks like he will get his chance to impress in pre season, with Drogba and Pizarro staying behind that means that Sheva, Anelka and i assume Di Santo will be the players leading our line during Pre Season this year.

When he played last season, he didn't do too bad a job of leading the line, but its clear he thrives off having an additional frontman - at Milan, during his peak, he had Inzaghi or another striker who took defenders away to give him space. Yup, Sheva, and Anelka and Drogba for that matter. All play better with a striker partner, it will be interesting to see if Scolari does give it a try playing 2 up top. Although like you said Sheva proved at times last season that he CAN play the lone role well enough, just not in the same way that Drogba does.

Shevchenko's positional sense is not suited for the lone role, and he often drops back in a second-striker-esque fashion, leaving the wingers isolated. He prefers to be in and around the box, which is where he is at his most leathal. It doesn't take a genius to work out Sheva is a class act and with the right combination up front, we could see 20 goals or more, from him next year.

Well lets hope so, there a lot of questions surrounding our squad this season that we are waiting to be answered, one of those is most certainly, what role does Sheva have to play this season. With Drogba not involved hopefully we will get a good idea this pre season.

That's the thing, I don't think this pre-season will hold any answers at all. With a player like Drogba in the squad, you moreorless have to fit the rest of the team around that player. Without him on the tour, I suspect our style in the first PL game of the season will be considerably different to that of the style on Wednesday.

Doesn't sound like Drogs will be ready for the start of the Prem either...

The 3 strikers we are currently working with have a real chance to put down a marker making it hard for Scolari to not pick them.

I know Fergy has brought back Scholes, but re-signing Riccy and Sheva is a bit extreme
