CHOULO19 24,332
It was undoubtedly a red card challenge, but you'd hope that the ref would have the understanding that this a preseason friendly and neither us nor Liverpool would want any player from any team sent off because that ruins all the tactics being tested and analyzed by the managers. Costa19 858
Yeah.. Just give him a yellow card and tell Conte to sub him off. No need for red cards in a friendly.
Barbara 15,149
I'm not exactly a patient girl... at least not lately. So names I see in the pre-season that I hope are nowhere near Chelsea team for the season: Moses and Cuadrado. Names I don't see tonight but still hope won't be here: Mikel and Ivanovic. Come on, we already have bang mediocre players in Pedro, Oscar and Cahill. We won't need to keep more than that (Oscar, can join the out-group if he plays as an attacker)

This is a good experience to have though. Liverpool get to attempt, and fail, to break down a defensively tight team. And we get to see Cuadrado and the guys shutting it down. Honestly, I don't think you can get much info about your team in these 'extreme' situations when the physical readiness of the players is no where near complete. On a related note, we've been defending very well deep all game long.

He can score, he is quick, homegrown, works hard in defense. I think he is a good player to sit on the bench.

I really dislike players like him, who have no technique at all on them, who can only run, shoot, run, shoot. I don't want him anywhere near us. Parky 739
A win is a win. We defended well despite the ref being retarded. Cesc should stop with the slide tackles. Impressed with Chalobah..

Chelsea Buzz 487
Well, it was a friendly. The refs were curious at best. We lacked some of our key offensive players.Did I mention it was a friendly? Seriously though, I saw more hustle defending tonight than in ANY match we had last year. You could see the guys are trying to prove themselves (1) to Conte and (2) that last year will not be repeated. Defended well. Had to because we did not control possession. Still don't get Cuadrado. All and all, a good friendly performance. Thought many players look in much better shape then last year, i.e.Cahill. It was a 1-0 win over Liverpool. Good night to be a Chelsea supporter and promises of good things ahead under Conte. Now let's have a few more quality signings and compete for the trophy!! Come on you Chelsea!! Hybrid Angel 2,130
This is what happens when you centre-backs and one of your two centre mids cant pass or carry the ball to save their lives. Anyways, good defensive performance but Zouma's return and Koulibaly and Kante's arrival needed badly.

For starters he's more direct compared to our other wingers and having him on one wing can bring more variety in our play. A lot of wingers (barring Pedro) tend to run to the byline and just end up with a backwards to the central midfield or full-back. You keep doing that and we'll have a wait a long time to unlock the opposition
