manpe 10,861
Mata was just superb in the hole in the first half. He had so much space and he doesn't need much time to produce quality. It's definitely where he's best.agreed
eldo 868
Yeah, I just realised that too. A tweak of philosophy? It was because NU pushed us deeper.
LDN Blue 7,903
It was because NU pushed us deeper.A ploy which actually helped Terry & Luiz defend well. If André noticed that, perhaps he'd use it as a tactic?
eldo 868
A ploy which actually helped Terry & Luiz defend well. If André noticed that, perhaps he'd use it as a tactic?Maybe. It depends on a game. It would be useless to keep them deeper when another team is playing deeper.

City will be hard without David Luiz & Alex in the dog-house. I fear we'll see Bosingwa return..

CHOULO19 24,332
More proof that JT isn't finished...what a performance! It was a great performance, no doubt. But I can't help but think that he was helped by AVB dropping the high-line defending.
Amblève. 4,995
It was a great performance, no doubt. But I can't help but think that he was helped by AVB dropping the high-line defending.This. With our whole defense playing deeper Terry looked great. We really need to use our players' strenghts wisely even if AVB has to modify some of his tactics. But we should not forget that N'castle was playing with high pressure so that our midfield had to play deeper, that's why our defense was forced to stay deeper too. BlueLion. 21,491
People say one bad game isn't enough to judge players like Drogba or Torres or Lampard... but Terry has one good game and suddenly he's the best CB in the world again. DDA 9,938
If we are going to play a high line then JT is going to struggle. Upsets me to see our ''reliables'' getting old =(
Kojo 4,676
JT will never be able to put in good games in the highline, he just wont adapt to it, perhaps if we got a much better midfield with pressure on the ball then yes. But he's not a finished centre back, if you cut out the highline and play like we did against Newcastle.
Idiot 71
John Terry is an Idol and Hero since may childhood, but never the less his time is running up very quickly. (not only his time but his generation. I think in 2 years we'll see a completly different chelsea)
YankinBlue42 72
Play to our strengths! Our best defenders are not in a position to succeed playing a high line. JT played a hell of a game and showed he still is the heart and soul of this team. I'm proud to wear my #26.
