Papy Djilobodji

Last year I played an auction draft for Ligue1 with friends.

We were 7 and all know the league very well.

At the end of the draft, i had no money left, and needed a CB.

So I took Djibolodji for one euro, I know him pretty well.

He's exactly the kind of CB that L1 produce a lot. No technics, very strong physically.

Don't look at Nantes defensive stats, it doesn't mean their CB are good.

In L1 it depends on the style of the team and Nantes has a very defensive style.

With L1 lacking of very good stricker, if you play this style, you won't have a lot of goals against you.

Why is Chelsea so obsessed with poor ball-playing CBs?

At least this one has pace if what I've read is true.

I cringe at some people, unless he is a beast on fifa or he costs £25m+ they don't want him. Now im not saying he is good or not but like pretty much everyone i've never seen him play, so lets not right him off! I can remember a similar response when we signed azpilicueta and that has turned out pretty well.

The same think was with Azpilicueta and now he is one of best full-back in the world.

Azpilicueta was 23, a Spanish youth international, played for Marseille and played 100+ games for Osasuna before that. Completely different situations.

1. Azpi was playing for Marseille (much better than Nantes)

2. he was younger + already playing for the youth teams of spain

cant compare this at all. Papy hasnt played for any good club so far and is already 27. no other french club was interested in him. if the local clubs dont want him, I cant see how he can be good enough for our side. seems like we really had no other choices left due to our awful transfer summer handling.

Umtiti or Nkoulou would fit that category, not sure if this guy is as good.

Then again I havent seen him play.

I just hope this isnt one of those transfers where we buy for the sake of it and never actualy use. Like with Ba, Remy etc.

I understand that Stones is unavailable, but how can you even settle for Djilbodji as second option is bit weird.

There are tons of players you can reel off that play for shit or mediocre sides, yet always stand out against good sides. Bolasie is a good example; he plays for a mediocre sides but is always a tough player to play against, the same for montero and plenty of others in this league, yet alone other leagues around Europe. People acting like this is a long term signing, it's obviously not and i wouldn't be surprised if we are in for someone better in Jan.

My jokes aside Papi Papi, we have a good history of getting quality defenders for cheap so let's see how it goes.

Left Baba, right Papy. Let's sign Mama and Mamy.

Baba passes to Mammy, Mammy gives it back to Mama, Mama back to Baba, Baba to Rami, Rami with brilliant technique (lol) sends it to Papy, Papy goes, Papy sends a cross and Remy scores.

Seems legit [emoji38]

We've given in to a stubborn Roberto Martinez by signing this guy!

Sorry but this has 'panic buy' written all over it!

I don't see it that way mate. Martinez is a plain asshole and we shouldn't stay without a CB just because he's an asshole.

And Stones pursuit isn't over, JT and Cahill are over 30 so we still need more CBs.

I'm only afraid that when Everton decide to sell later on they don't refuse our bid and accept other ones because our relationship has gone to hell.
