Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
1. Do you watch Falcao? Seriously, he creates a lot of his goals. When footballers say "create his own chances", they mean the striker didnt just scored from an open net, there are a lot of ways to create chances. The turning aspect you quoted is just one way of opening space. Falcao creates a lot of his own goals, he does it really often. Barcelona, Chelsea, Bilbao, etc.2. Your reference of Drogba at Camp Nou only reveals his spirit to win hos most desired UCL. Dont try to make his will of playing LB/CB as a metaphor os his workrate or teamplay, it was all part of the circunstances. We all know he was a bit lazy at unimportant or routine games. You are using one specific game to try to convince us that he was a better team player than Falcao? Radamel helps in the defense more than you might imagine.3. A decent striker would have won us CWC, but what about the next 3-4 UCLs, EPLs, FA Cups, etc?Choulo19, you are an excellent poster, but your opinion about Falcao is way out of line. There is no need to transform him in a God (like some), however, there is no need to underate it in every aspect. this is what I'm concerned in. Big goals in big games, who is the best at getting those types of goals?
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
For the record I don't care who it is between Cavani and Falcao both are class and would produce in different ways
YouNameIt 1,511
Its funny that there are people here who actually think they know what we can afford and not. As if they would know something that people working for Chelsea dont.
Rmpr 8,977
He will need several top performances for this to happen, won't just be a given immediately he puts on the shirt. At the very first games the media impact will do, but down the road you are right, he will need to perform. There is no way for any of us to convince the other, we will have to wait to see if he really comes and if he performs. LDN Blue 7,903
The first two points are completely true for casual and abroad fans. Dont try to deny the increase in marketing revenue big sigings have. The sponsor aspect is more of better deals due to the increase in media impact. The fans we get are the plastic ones (that usually follow the trend), but they still bring money. I am experiencing it with Oscar, our shirt sales and media exposure has almost double because of him.The "mental impact" is true, in any sport. For instance, dont you think RG3 worries his opposition and cheers his teammates?Call me stupid, but who's RG3? O.o
JDY 1,290
Would prefer Llorente in January and Lewandowski in the summer but that's just me.

The only place to be 11,313
Stop the comparrison with Drogba, I'm not comparing I'm using an example. No one is like Drogba, but Drogba fits a certain catagory as a team playing forward, just like Schurle for Laverkusen or whatever his name is, and Cavani is a team playing forward. And what do you mean tick most boxes?, it doesn't matter who is better, what matters is who fits into the team. Grant Holt would've scored more goals than Torres last season if he was in our team, doesn't mean he's better than Torres, however if he did better then by all means it's a better choice to of had Grant Holt. That's just an example don't be getting that caught up into a comparison.Cavani will help the team, Falcao will turn into another Torres if he doesn't do well here, because that's all goal poachers can do. We aren't such a creative team like you think we are, we need more people to track back and stay level headed, instead of people who are going to be setting up camp upfront all day.I'm going to quote myself from the other thread to you "We can't just have Falcao and think everythings going to be all right cause it wont, our team needs a leader and a fighter up there right now, like Suarez is with Liverpool, the main man. At the moment we are lacking that main man in attack, Cavani is the right person and he could handle playing with quality with the likes of Lavezzi who he linked up with very well."You haven't answered that yet, you keep bringing up about well one year ago i would've agreed.Clearly you and I have different views of what we need in a striker. I'm not going to argue over it because I can't see that being beneficial. I think Falcao can fulfil our needs in that position simply by doing what he does. I think that will benefit the rest of the players but I wouldn't be disappointed if we got Cavani too.But I simply look at what type of football we're looking to play, and what type of football we might be playing next season if we get Guardiola and I think the best option is Falcao. TorontoChelsea 4,064
But I simply look at what type of football we're looking to play, and what type of football we might be playing next season if we get Guardiola and I think the best option is Falcao. Could not disagree with this more. Falcao is a much better fit for a Mourinho sort of system where there is a big need for a target man and someone who thrives on counter-attacks. In Guardiola's system, what he needs from the striker are very different. He likes forwards who can pass, who can do layoffs well, who can go wide and drop deep, who can read plays developing and who are versatile. You look at the players Pep liked at striker, Ibrahimovic, Messi, and Villa and all of them are very different than Falcao. He needs his strikers to be very involved in the build-up of the attack, not as the guy waiting in the box for a cross to come in. Messi averages over 58 passes a game. Ibrahimovic averaged 40. Rooney 49, Van Persie 29. Falcao averages 20.5 which means he touches the ball less than almost any other striker you can think of. The best fit for Guardiola for players we have been rumoured to be interested in IMO is Jovetic who can dribble, pass, links up well, and can finish. nadavTKL 1,787
Jovetic is not a proven goal scorer as a striker. but I agree with what you said about Pep-Falcao (as long as pep will want his new team to play like his old one). I actually can't see him coming here anymore, my bet is on Jose right now. Jose+Falcao in one summer.. can't get better than that.

In fact I think falcao is good type of player, I've he admires and it's a good sign that we're going after . He fits what we are trying to do throughout the club at all age groups. themightyblue 443
Wouldn't even be surprised if we signed Falcao as a way of enticing Pep. Pretty sure Guardiola has sung his praises more than once about how good a player he is. In regards to 'fitting in systems' we have idea if Falcao would fit in a Pep system AT CHELSEA

I dont care about any presents for christmas eve, I'm just excited about the fact (it's a fact after what Benitez said) that we will get a new striker. Now one can only dream about our potential targets. Good stuff..
