Radamel Falcao

Like Man United last season... that will forever be the example I will use when somebody bitches about my desire for us to buy a top Striker when we could actually do with players in other key areas!

My thoughts aswell, say for example Falcao played for us last season, the club world cup final for example he would buried that chance Torres missed while making sure he stayed onside for the 'goal' in the last seconds.

Crap performance, but world champions because we had a top forward.

We first need to try avoiding so much crap performances by signing a DLP, if we could get Falcao too in the same window? i wont be against it but i dont think its the first thing to do.

Falcao+Cabaye in January could be sweat actually.

What is funny though is people complaining that Falcao/Cavani for £50-£60m is too much while WILLIAN for £30m is nothing LOL. Willian isn't even in the top 15 wingers in the world while Falcao is probably considered the best ST in the world atm LOL.

You just got to realize that not everyone is gonna go for what they are worth. Are Willian that good he is only £2m less than Hazard who was on the nominated list for best player in the world this year.

Willian signing was utter BS. I somehow thought we only bought him to mess with Spurs. I don't think it would have made much of a difference having KDB and Moses in his place.

And I have seen average teams winnings titles just because they have a top striker...

But I have seen top teams with average strikers winning leagues. When teams work well together, the strikers start scoring automatically and suddenly look like world-class forwards. Lewandowski and Barrios were average strikers before they BVB started playing total football around them. Mandzukic is average, too.

Next summer the world cup will be decided between Spain, Brazil and GErmany, neither have a world class CF.

City already had Agüero last year and did win nothing.

A top striker is not a guarantee for a title but for 60m it should be. I agree, we should do better in that department, but now is not the time to react. We had the chance last year, but we stuck with Torres. We will need a good striker, considering our current ones won't be here too long and Lukaku is our only real prospect, but we won't buy one in Winter.

There are problems that are at least as urgent. We lack the last bit of stability, which JOse's teams normally have, which lost us the game vs BAyern, Everton and cost us vs WBA. We lack penetration, those ball through the lines in midfield. FAlcao would only treat the symptons but not heal the disease. For some that might be enough, surely not for Jose.

After all the time you have spent on this forum and searching football rumour mills you still bother to read givemesport and take something serious from their 'dribbles'.

Whats the point of signing Falcao?

We need to fix the midfield before signing a striker...

The point of signing Falcao is to have someone who will give you 25-30 goals a season.

Of course we need to fix the pivot, but one thing doesnt have anything to do with the other.

I say we fix the issue of our inability to break down packed defenses first. otherwise it would be another case of chelsea striker s) in this case, falcao, frustrated and isolated upfront due to lack of quality, clear cut chances being created and left to feed off scraps.

That slow ponderous build up play, shit crossing (ivanovic i see you), lack of creativity from deep and from our AM's and so on would only lead to yet another (potential) big money flop.

People look at the stats of world class strikers in awe but fail to realise the amount of chances they actually miss due to the sheer volume of creativity they are provided with. and by creativity I'm referring to the one on the pitch rather than on paper. . . because on paper, we should be one of the most creative teams in the world but we aren't, far from it.

Whenever I watch teams like PSG,Bayern,Barca (when they are on form), Dortmund, Juve et al, they never struggle to create clear cut chances one after the other in most games regardless of the opposition and the tactics,

Apparently his wages will be cut in half due to the new tax which will effect Monaco if they want to keep playing in the French League. He is currently on a massive 250k pounds per week, I don't think it's feasible to sign him unless he takes a pay cut to join us.

Only Real and us are realistic options at the moment.

Our strikers don't do themselves many favors by moving to the wing or remaining flatfooted inside the box instead of actually trying to get into goal scoring positions. The lack of chances has as much to do with them not being good enough for a club of our stature - as it is due to the reasons listed.

Our creative midfielders can create plenty of chances for a striker with good movement - just recall last season when we played West Brom and moved Sturridge up top for 20 minutes. Mata created 3-4 chances for Sturridge due to Sturridge looking for space inside the box far more often than Torres.

Eto'o gets a few half chances due to his far better movement alone.

I disagree. We are just not very good at creating chances and has been the case since the Roman era. ( I don't count Drogba bullying defence as being creative). I;m referring to the ability to constantly split open opposition defence with different array of offensive arsenal i.e long range through pass, diagonal balls, excellent overlapping runs and crossing, cut backs, quick combination passing.

That has never been our identity since Roman took over. we were actually far more creative during the Zola, Di matteo, gullit era. Drogba and lampard have, for so long, masked our deficiency in that regard. Ancelotti's first and double winning season was the outlier, an exception rather than the rule. creating chances is just not our forte, it's almost as if we are cursed. . . .no matter how much we invest, or the players we buy, it never changes anything.
