When he brought Carvalho to Madrid it took him about a year and half to realize that he is no longer the player he once was and a defensive liability, before finally dropping him and getting a much tighter defense.

I can see him spending months trying to play a 4-3-3, putting Essien and Lampard there in the faint hopes tat he might get the same midfield when he was first here, all the while pushing Hazard and Mata out wide when clearly they perform much better in a 4-2-3-1 where they have a more free role

I hope so too, but I really do fear him coming back will be like some snooty old boys gentlemen club reunion. Remember his is the first time he will be retuning to club he once managed, and there is the phrase 'never turn back' that springs to mind, especially for a manager that uses players emotions to try and win trophies.

I've seen you post the same comment in a few threads...

I cannot see that happening, why did he favour Essien + Carvalho at Madrid? Simple, because HE knows the players and due to the in-fighting he needed allies in the dressing room and on the pitch!

Also Carvalho is a good defender! I would swap him for Cahill in an instant... And Essien has done Well at RB... So why would he be moved to CM...

Also Carvalho is a good defender! I would swap him for Cahill in an instant... And Essien has done Well at RB... So why would he be moved to CM...

I'm still not so sure - he might use Lampard but he has Hazard, Mata and Oscar available, maybe KdB - Ramires, Luiz, Chalobah and Mikel available - not to mention some other signings we might add?

I don't know for sure - nobody does (except Jose) - but one thing I know is that Jose is a Winner and Winners don't deal with sentiments for long if it means losing!!!
