Stats 7,142
Essien has been quality this match. Reminds me of the days he use to totally boss the midfield. Judging by what I have seen this evening I wouldnt mind having him in on board here. Put in a decent shift against City as well. Chelsea's loss, Real Madrid's gain

Chelsea's loss, Real Madrid's gainI'm pretty sure you're one of the very few that thinks this. How can he be quality in a game Vallecano have dominated since before half time? But he isnt the only player who doesn´t a good job today for Real Madrid. That's a fair point to make. Their midfielders have been over run all game, Modric was also pretty quiet and Ronaldo was just bad. Scored a pen, but nothing went his way, he even missed an open goal! Jase 43,479
Didn't watch the game and I'm left rather bemused here by the contrasting views on Essien's performance.

meetdoscar 335
Its surprising how strong chelsea look after the players we have lost in the past 2-3 years. Every one talks about arsenal loosing their star players well so have we, although not as much but we still maintain our level at the very top. We've adapted well loosing players like ballack anelka j.cole makelele and now drogba kalou malouda essien. I think chelsea fc is still among the top 4 clubs in europe I.e including Barca Bayern R.madrid/ManU despite the players we've lost. But then let's wait and see.
