Viper22 2,418
Numbers can't perform miracles. 1-11 is a club controlled hierarchy, Hazard was awarded 10. We're not even sure if Premier League rules permit a number that high anyway, and if he doesn't flop.. he'll probably take Didier's 11 shirt next season, but still.I agree. I don't like players choosing ridiculous numbers but I wouldn't say it exactly makes us look small time, just makes him look like a bellend. But I think you're right, next season when the Drog moves to a coaching role I reckon he'll take over the no.11, so he just picked a ridiculous number seeing as he was only going to have it for 5months; make sure he sticks out to make an impression and all that. Jase 43,479
Taking the number 74 is odd but not sure what's the fuss about really.I'm not even sure Shirley is leaving - is a shame he's leaving,Clutching at straws there, Barbara.. Barbara 15,149
Taking the number 74 is odd but not sure what's the fuss about really.Clutching at straws there, Barbara..it missed an 'if' in the second part.I mean I don't know because I haven't been following any transfer saga (as usual) not Schurrle's, Salah's, Costa's or Cuadrado's.I came here after I saw an article on the OP saying we agreed to terms...If Schurrle leaves, it won't actually have much of an impact... he's been MIA for a long time and while I still defend we should keep a player of his profile, it's nearly indifferent if he stays or leaves. We all know what he can do and offer the team when he's on form or at least not enduring a rough patch. But oh well.
Henrique 9,133
That makes us look so small-time, he's on an ego trip picking such an obscure number to stand out from the rest.Term-X is on a ego trip, writing such an obscure post to stand out from the rest. BlueLyon 9,359
For info biggest number in PL was worn by Pozo from city (#78) in 2014. Apparently new rules in EPL allow numbers from 1-
Sir Mikel OBE 4,920
He'll be 74 for, at most, 4 or so months. 11 will be his if he shows what he did in Brazil
The Mak 4,459
Everything about this transfer has annoyed me so far, so I'm not surprised he's gone and picked 70-fucking-4. Obviously. Duh. What else would he pick.
bababoom 4,478
It's small-time, Milan lost their tradition when they did it, it became a 'trend', players saw themselves as centre of the universe so the 1-11 hierarchy was scrapped. The number 10, the number 11 etc.. should be a rewards/a status, like it was for Hazard.I'm guessing it's just temporary anyway. Drogba will most likely go into a coaching role next season leaving the number 11 up for grabs. Oscar has the number 8 now so doubt he'll want it. Spike 12,049
I'm glad he didn't pick 75 though. That is entirely inapropriate. I would have been offended.
Chelsea Legend 11 4,062
Perfect time for him to come aboard, teams won't have a book on him and his trickery could expose defenses. Defenders will have a hard time playing against a tricky player who they've never seen before up close. Bonus.
Parky 739
Seems to be highly rated.Mauricio Pochettino backs Juan Cuadrado to shine for ChelseaChelsea will be signing a "top player'' in Juan Cuadrado, according to Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino. The 26-year-old Cuadrado is likely to complete his move from Fiorentina to Stamford Bridge over the weekend. The Colombia international could play a major role in the Capital One Cup final when Chelsea meet Tottenham at Wembley, with Pochettino an admirer of his talent."He is a top player,'' the Argentinian replied when asked how highly he rated Cuadrado. "He is a decisive player. He is very strong. I've watched him a lot playing for Colombia, his national team. [Jose] Pekerman and Nestor Lorenzo, the manager and assistant manager for Colombia, are my friends. I speak always about Cuadrado. He is a top player.''Spurs were destined to come up against Cuadrado when they play Fiorentina in a two-legged Europa League tie in February, but now they could face him in the Capital One Cup final instead. And Pochettino is backing the former Udinese man to make a mark for the Blues."In both cases we would have played against him,'' he added. "You never know but he has all the attributes to be successful here. He is a very good player. He's a wing-back. He can play like a winger and like a full-back. He is strong, he is powerful and he is very technical.''
RoyalBlues 4,050
Shame it's Pochettino who talked about it, if AVB who said it, I will be more excited as he is still a top scout, but not as a manager.
