lionsden 4,689
If He fulfills most people's suspicion/prediction and turns out to be just another energetic winger with little goal threat aka another Willian, someone at the club, be it Jose or emenalo will have some questions to answer. We don't have the luxury of making bad buys or unneccessary buys anymore. we have enough energy on the wing already, we need genuine quality/end prodcut. supporter 3,088
I remember when Jose arrived at Inter and he got the signing of Wesley Sneijder before the match Inter - Milan in August. Jose put Sneijder in the starting eleven that same match. Also in the Real Madrid Jose signed Diego Lopez, although in a different situation than Sneijder situation, but Jose also put Diego Lopez in the starting eleven in the match Real Madrid against Barcelona. This may mean nothing, but maybe Jose is thinking to putting Juan Cuadrado (or other signing) in our starting eleven on Saturday as an attempt to stage a coup d'unexpected effect.Regards to ALL. We don't have the luxury of making bad buys or unneccessary buys anymore. we have enough energy on the wing already, we need genuine quality/end prodcut. The thing is it's not all about goals which we desire from Willian. but it is his decision making, he just doesn't prove any threat from right hand side of the wing whenever he has the ball in danger areas he has a brain fade and just stops instead of running them down and provide the pass in the final third. This leads to Hazard being man marked by 2 and this stops our creativity. If we he'd even has somewhat better decision making and can provide even 50-60% if the threat Hazard do we'll be unstoppable.

dee25 1,044
There have been no reliable sources stating that we are looking to pay over 20M for Douglas Costa. The impression I've been getting is that we are hoping to get him for around 15-20M. If we move Salah on (now or in the near future) we will be looking to get 7-13M for him; that will cover around half of the Douglas transfer fee.And I simply don't get this 'not all that good' argument that I see being trotted out again and again. Douglas Costa will likely be 5TH CHOICE. Too many people on here seem to think that we will genuinely be able to have a roster full of world-class/near-world-class AMs, and that two of these players are going to be satisfied with spending most of their time on the bench. This will never happen; even BAYERN and REAL have been unable to make such a situation work.Ideally, that 5th AM spot could be occupied by one of our youth players, but this seems unlikely to happen at the moment. This is possibly because Mourinho doesn't trust them yet, and/or possibly because Mourinho feels that the lack of meaningful game-time that they will receive as 5th choice will stall their potential development. Either way, we may soon find ourselves one AM short, and we will need to bring in a replacement (for Salah) who is actually trusted enough by Mourinho to fulfil the squad role that they have been brought in to play, and so does not spend all of their time either on the bench or out of the squad completely.Even for 15-20M, there's something very unsettling to me about paying that amount of money for a player who hasn't managed to consistently perform well in the Ukrainian league. From what I've read he's shown flashes of quality but generally hasn't impressed all that much but you're telling me that he's going to come to the premier league, in the middle of the season, to a more disciplined system than he's used to and with less playing time than he's used to and suddenly be able to make a big enough impact? Mata, KDB, Moses, Salah, Schurrle - all have struggled to impress but somehow a 24 yr old from the Ukrainian league who isn't even the best player in his team will come in the middle of the season and do better than all those players? It just seems like fantasy thinking.

We don't have the luxury of making bad buys or unneccessary buys anymore. we have enough energy on the wing already, we need genuine quality/end prodcut. What are you talking about? You're not going to get a goal scoring winger, and when I say goalscoring I mean around 15, who works hard tracking back and plays our style for under £30-35m. And yes we do have that luxury! Basically what's being done here is we are shuffling the decks to look for chemistry and fit. Schurrle hasn't worked and neither had salah. The move once its been determined they aren't working or aren't happy is to find players within their price range who fit our style and hope they blend with the team. What you're advocating is we spend more money in wages and fee and hope whoever comes in is better since we paid more. That's not gonna happen. Cuadrado is replacing schurrle not willian. He is being brought in to challenge willian.

LondonsFinest 692
In today's market we are getting him for a reasonable price and after all the great transfers of the summer, people shouldn't really complain about this one. Have your doubts, but saying that Jose has to answer for a transfer, IF it goes bad, seems silly to me.
