Spike 12,049
I was happy to hear that Abby Wambach won the women's Ballon d'Or!! How do female players get so many caps fo their national teams? Is there more of an emphasis on international football on the female side of things?Kristine Lilly has 352...mind blowing.
BluesChick 1,260
I think they tend to play longer because there are few women that play and stick with it past their mid 20's. Plus professional women's sports tend to lag behind men's sports with the possible exception of tennis and golf.As of December 15, 2012, Wambach has 152 goals in 198 international matches. Out of her 152 goals, 61 goals or 40% were headers.http://www.fifa.com/ballondor/playeroftheyear/player=186483/index.html

Term-X 7,891
Imagine a Chelsea player being nominated and winning this, the closest we got was Lampard but Ronaldinho beat him to it. It certainly gives Hazard and possibly Oscar something to aim for..
Term-X 7,891
Back when the award used to be two seperate accolades, fifa/ballon d'or.
BleedsBlue 1,549
Man I wish someone would have trolled and voted for Torres to win.Would have been hysterical and perhaps could have boosted the Spaniard's confidence also.lol
NishC300 1,865
When they said Fair Play Award I was like Man United....................................................LOL NO! THE MEDIA IN CYPRUS VOTED FOR DROGBA FOR PLAYER OF THE YEAR! WOW! DIDER DROGBA!How did Alves (who was dropped for half the season) and Marcelo who can't defend to save his life ahead of ASHLEY COLE! Guardiola ahead of RDM for winning a Copa Del Rey? Didn't RDM GO OWN HIM IN HIS OWN BACKYARD WITH 10 MEN! AND DEL BOSQUE! SPAIN DIDN'T DO SOMETHING SPECTACULAR IN THE EUROS THEY HAD THE BEST TEAM! They just squiggled through some games won on pens against Portugal (when they should have lost in 90 mins). UEFA=BarcelonaFA=Ferguson Association (I had to mention that)FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONS=ANTI-CHELSEA!(Seriously even if Cole didn't make it why not Lahm he's had a gr8 season! Alonso ahead of Pirlo? Wht!?!?!) I've had my own World XI worked out mostly (but I need to work out the centre backs!) Ramos ( can be a bit indiscipline at times)

Jase 43,479
At this rate, FIFA should just award the next 10 years of Ballon d'Or awards to Messi in advanced to save everyone's time. Have a runners up trophy for everyone else to compete.

Spike 12,049
I will forver argue that Sneijder or Milito were deserving of the Ballon D'or in 2010.

Cloudy 6
The world X1 is voted by professional footballers, all 55,000 of them. They obviously live in another world to us. Also, Ashley Cole said in September "Marcelo best left back in the world, last 2 seasons"
