I ain't even mad; that was much closer to what I was looking for - pressing, combinations and movement. Second half was a bit wank but I could understand it because clearly the manager was trying out a different setup. Overall, Cesc has slotted right in (esp. at 8) and Matic looks fine, Oscar and Schurrle were sharp, DC was top class and I had fun watching. Good game(s).

The game vs. Fenerbahce is exactly how I'd like to see us play - the pressing and the movement/overlapping was sharp, Hazard drifting to the middle, Oscar and Cesc interchanging positions, Costa and Oscar pressing high, Schurrle and Hazard being very direct and impactful, everything seemed fluid. On the other hand, the 4-3-3 vs. Besiktas seemed like it had never been trained before and despite keeping possession we rarely ever looked dangerous. I'm not discarding it yet, but it seems Mourinho hasn't trained that before - the midfield looked a bit confused about who should do what attacking wise.

The first-half was everything we should be looking to do next season, the second-half was everything wrong with us last season.

Impressed with the directness we played with in the first-half. Schurrle was making great runs beyond Costa (especially for his goal), Fabregas pinged the ball around superbly and Oscar was getting into dangerous positions.

Second-half was slow, ponderous and reminiscent of so many matches from last season.

Cech is also a concern. Looks dodgy at crosses, has the yips and Courtois needs to start.

+ Diego Costa is awesome

+ Matic was great as usual

+ Fabregas looked much better deeper and should always play there

+ Hazard steadily getting sharper

+ Filipe Luis looked great defensively

- Ramires still can't go for 30 seconds without fouling

- Cahill was all over the place

- Filipe Luis isn't quite there yet going forward

- Our defending overall is pretty worrying in preseason

Too much "control" in that 2nd game, but nothing in attack. But obviously a few key players had gone off or were tired etc.

Overall good games - just disappointed with another mistake from a corner by Cech, and how much worse we look without Costa upfront, meh.

Costa, Class.

Matic is pretty much our best player in the preseason

Oscar played well looks very comfortable playing with new teammates.

Fab needs to come and find the ball more and he needs to continue to run from deep.

Hazard looked off in his first appearance and better in the second.

Cahill isn't my fave player, don't like the way he is always backing off of attackers.

Luis, for me starts on the bench this year.

Willian is def off the bench.

Schurrle looks top quality

Salah could be a nice change of pace sub

Ramires still adds loads to this squad

Courtois is my keeper at the beginning of the season

It must be said that our players were playing against fresher players in the second half and against a different team, and our players were much fresher than Fenerbahce players in the first half. So considering this, it's not really fair to judge what formation works better based on these too games. Mostly everyone played well. Even in the second game we controlled the game and looked organized, good short passing between players, we controlled possession well and made few mistakes. As Dion said, it didn't look like we trained 4-3-3 much, so it's not surprising that we didn't look very dangerous in the attack. It will come. I think both options are viable, depending on the opposition.
