Am I the only one having some fear about this transfer? Dont know, just have a feeling he wont suceed here I dont know...maybe I am tainted by Torres + Sheva transfer, but Costa isnt really the type of striker Mou was looking for last summer in Rooney...seems more or less like the only real available option and better than nothing.

Unless he specifically wants 19 and Demba leaves to free that spot i would actually give him 9 and lump Torres a rubbish number.

It needs to be made clear to him he won't be playing if he stays.

Not true about Drogba but Costa had one good season. He had 10 goals in 31 La Liga games the year before. He scored a bunch of goals against poor sides in the Spanish Cup and the Europa league though. It wasn't a bad season by any stretch of the imagination, but not the kind of numbers or performances that make you stand out at all.

Drogba actually played 2 years in League 1 (and 11 games the previous year). His first full year was good, better than Costa's year two seasons ago (1 goal every 2 games to 1 goal every 3 games). I wish people would keep repeating the same nonsense about Drogba. He finished 3rd in Ligue 1 in goals in back to back years. How is that one great season?

Costa wasn't the team's goal-scorer in 12/13. And I have to say, 10 goals and 7 assists in 24 starts is more than decent considering the circumstances (first year at Atletico, playing in different positions).

And since we're going by statistics, 10 goals and 4 assists in 15 starts for Rayo Vallecano in 11/12. Not too shabby.

I have a good feeling about this guy. He's had an interesting journey to the top. Seems like he's constantly had to prove himself.

And more importantly, he's more than a goal-scorer. Think he'll do fine.

This is exactly what I did to Torres in Football Manager. The board wouldn't let me sell/loan him, so I put him in the U18s squad and gave him the shirt number 50 and 'Flopess' as a nickname.

According to AS we have paid the 40 m in his release clause!

their bastard president is still behind it seems haha

Commenting on reports in England that Brazil-born Costa, who has the same agent as Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho, had passed a medical and the London club had paid the buyout fee, Cerezo suggested the deal was some way from being finalised.

"Diego has the attributes to become the world's best forward but what we will not do is oblige someone to play where they do not want to," Cerezo was quoted as saying in Spanish media.

"If he (Costa) has an agreement with someone then let him come and tell us," he added.

"If he wants to leave, let him come and deposit his buyout clause which I believe is around 42 or 43 million euros."
