Now that's something we can agree on - the second point, that is. Both can do a job, but we need better. Costa had to go out wide to receive the ball, consequently he was not in the box to score. I would say he needs to be benched for now, but we haven't got anybody better, so it's out of the question. Currently he is poor but to say he's a bad striker is a naive statement, we brought him in as the best striker on the market and he is capable of scoring.

i dont know why costa drifted out wide specially in the first half when we had natural width from both our full backs. simply poor positioning and general play from him. no one is saying he is a poor striker. but only delusional people would say he is the 2nd best striker in the world and the same delusional person is even saying that he was actually good today.

also, on current form, i would choose remy.

as for oscar, that is exactly what a lot of us having been saying for a long time. "we need better". guess what, we had 2 options who were better, and now we are screwed.

i honestly never knew that a striker can be poor only when he missed open goals. a striker's link up play, hold up play, positioning, general contribution should even be looked at. i guess torres was brilliant for 90% of our games. and it gets better.

Costa had 85% pass accuracy only Baba had higher, he made 3 key passes only Oscar had more, he completed 4 dribbles only Willian completed more, he won 2 free-kicks and contributed defensively making 1 tackle, blocking 1 shot and making 1 clearance, all while playing in a team that is not functioning well right now, when you take all that into account and the lack of service yes its clear he was awful right?

Few things..he wasnt bad at all today.

Only real complaint I have is about his movement. He keeps playing on wing instead of going inside penalty area. That way he will never score...

Generaly speaking, we created like 3 times less chances for him than arsenal or city for their strikers. Give his some break. We have performed poorly as team yet some people constantly shit on Costa.

If you cant support the guy when he plays bad, dont support him when he scores.

Today's criticism towards him is justified i believe. Before HT he just dived, he could've scored easily from where he dived, together with that, he was everywhere except the penalty box, we had no presence in front of their net. Needs to be sorted out as this isn't the first time either.

i agree that Costa did contribute and wasnt bad at all, his stats show that, it must be a nightmare to be a striker for Chelsea right now, i have no doubt if Costa played for Man City or for Bayern Munich or for an attacking in form Chelsea team like the 1st half of last season, he would score goals for fun.

Just accept when a favourite player of yours has a bad game. Those stats are meaningless, he is a striker. We want to see him putting balls in the back of the net. Sometimes, less excuses, more acceptance. Costa had service tonight but just was not at it. Simple as that.

LOL put Remy up front or how about Aguero or Suarez or Lewandowski or Ibra or Benzema, it wont make a difference, the way we are playing doesnt help a striker at all, no striker on the planet would be prolific in our current team, we dont create chances, we just steal a goal from a set piece or a mistake, then sit back and hope for the best, Remy would be our worst option to have up front right now, at least with Costa he has been able to put in some top performances against West Brom, Porto and Villa during this bad spell.

Wel, I find the passing stats meaningless tbh. He kept drifting out wide and looking for a teammate so obviously his passing rates will be a bit higher but look for instance for our first goal. I know we got the goal from an own goal but when Willian got past his man, Costa should have made a run on the far post but luckily it worked in the end. Then there was another opportunity near the end for him where he received the ball and he drifted on to his left foot. It was a similar angle to the goal he scored against West Ham last season at the Bridge however this time rather than shot, he tried to take the ball further and then the chance was wasted. Sometimes he tries to dribble too much when there is an opportunity of shooting.

diego relies on chances in the box, something he wont get here. so i'l go for the striker who can finish from 25-30 yards on either foot.
