Rightly so. He was never going to be a first team player. That's what he wanted and what he has got.

I agree with blooding youth, but when it's abundantly clear they will never be a starter its pointless.

If Bertrand was given the opportunity to play at us we definitely would be talking about him as one of the best LB in Europe and he would be a bang on contender for starting LB for England. He is quality, defensively and offensively. It is a shame to see one of our own products be sold on without being given a chance. He is everything you want in a LB. As much as I like Mourinho I will never understand some of his decisions. This is one of them. I would not take another LB in the league ahead of Bertrand.

Its criminal he wasn't called up. Goes to show how far club names go when you have Luke Shaw, who has done fuck all, and Gibbs who can barely hold a starting spot now getting calls over him.

He'd have a better chance getting into the national side by riding our bench than actually being one of the best in the league starting for Southampton.

If the swap deal for Luis and Koke is true, it was incredibly dumb to get rid of this lad. Ake can be second choice at his age, sure, but Azpi needs to be first choice RB soon - Iva's lost yard is showing these days.

People have been bashing the KDB, Mata and Luiz (lol) deals, but for me, this is by far the biggest blunder by the club and Jose in particular made worse by the fact that we actually went out and splashed 16m for a backup LB as well.

Of course he didn't want to stay. Jose complete discarded him from his plans despite playing very well every time in his limited game time and didn't even consider him or give him a chance when he decided that our main LB at the time was not good enough anymore and instead took a huge gamble on a RB playing on the left instead.

The mistake was not letting him this season, the mistake was the way he was treated the previous season and forcing him out of the team he loves and had worked incredibly hard and patiently to be part of.

I don't think luis was a back up purchase. Imo, Iva's performances have really impressed Jose and that's why he's forced to stick with Azpi on the left. Maybe the initial plan was to play the Spaniard as a right back.
