dodojojo 510
I agree with the reasoning that if you have a player who has hit a certain ceiling and isn't good enough, then you let them go. It's like a law firm, they bring in law school grads at 140K a year and give them 5 years or so to get on the partner track. It's ruthless, the law firm will let the associates go even if they're doing their job but it's clear they won't crack the partner level. They just bring in younger grads. Now will the younger grads be better than the 5 year associate? Maybe, maybe not. But the law firm already knows the 5 year guy won't ever make partner while there's still hope for success for the new grad. This happens every single year for law firms. Most burn out or are let go before hitting the jackpot of making partner at a large firm.Kalou at 25 is at awkward stage of his career. He's not veteran enough to provide solid play and leadership as a good dressing room guy/sub. But at 25, he's no longer a youth and he's unlikely to get better. This is it folks. I don't feel strongly either way about Kalou staying but I can understand a club policy to have a 21 year old get a chance over a 25 year old for a valuable squad place/playing time. And not to mention the possible cost savings. We're not talking about replacing a superstar. And for those who point out Torres' performances compared to Kalou's...Torres is a different type of investment of course. His ceiling is being one of the 3-5 top strikers in the world. Admittedly, he has failed to hit that high, but we know the potential is there and we have of course seen it in full bloom in the past. Can anyone say the same for Kalou?
BLionheart 516
i don't get all the debate about salamon kalou !!!!He is without a doubt the worst forward in any big team i know of , he wouldn't make it in 17 teams out of 20 in the EPL , the lad is just too bad of a player .Any person who will say otherwise ( like any of the super-sub , goal to minute ratio stuff ) is either an ignorant person who just doesn't want to admit how poor one of Chelsae's players is OR he really doesn't know anything about football. We have to admit that we have some very poor players in our squad an as soon as they are replaced we will get better and No.1 on that list is Kalou . Popular Post! True_Blue 469 Posted August 3, 2011 Popular Post! Share Posted August 3, 2011 It's a disgrace how our fans can hate our players.I agree to say he is shit if he is,he is not World Class but he does do the job as an impact player. He wasn't brought in to be the star player and to score 50 goals a season, his share of goals and assists are more than enough for a player that is usually starting from the the bench.TX could you name me some other impact player that has a better goal scoring and assist ratio? Since your knowledge about football is really overwhelming and the entire forum regards you as one of the best posters on TC Tomo, Rambo, manpe and 2 others
LDN Blue 7,903
It sickens me a bit how people treat Kalou. He's a fine person, never comes across like an arrogant twat.. just as somebody who is willing to contribute what he's got and follow the instructions. Sure, he may not be what we need, but I wouldn't tag him as "shit", that's disrespectful.... And he's scored some important goals for us, and who can forget that assist to John Arne Whatever he chooses in his career, I'll wish him luck.... and if he does stay, then I will sure as hell support him as much as every other player on the team.Why.Why did you have to go and open this debate again. Cue personal insults & illogical statements. Peace.

Since your knowledge about football is really overwhelming and the entire forum regards you as one of the best posters on TC For the past 5 years Kalou has been playing for one of Europe's elite clubs, it's called the law of averages. The statistics are misleading to say the least, his consistent poor performances & zero development since joining has been laughable. Give Kakuta & Sturridge the same minutes on the pitch and you will see the difference. Kalou has been incredibly fortunate to have played the amount of games he has here. Whilst talented youngsters were shipped off on loan due to Carlo's phobia of inexperience. BLionheart

So you actually would like a player that shines and doesn't ever score or assists rather than Kalou who isn't spectacular but does score and does change results?Well done then. Kostas 1,468
Around 12 months ago people were saying that he was the best "super-sub" in England over the likes of Chicharito. While I'm not one to get on the Mexican's bandwagon it doesn't get any simpler than what BLionheart said, he wouldn't get into most teams in the league as they wouldn't pay him what he gets here to be their first striker. And no, I'm not going to get into arguing stats about whether managers liked him or not or about his "tremendous" appearances/goals ratio. A decent memory or a simple search and could convince anyone having doubts.Complimenting his effort and saying "he's not world class/the fastest/the best but..." is as good as an argument about such a player is going to get.
