Best individual performance you've ever seen?

To get the thread back onto Chelsea player performances, there was Essien's performance in the CL where he had Gerrard completely and utterly in his pocket.

One of the most powerful midfield performances I've witnessed from a Chelsea midfielder. This wasn't the Gerrard of today, this was when Gerrard was a true box-to-box performer. Essien never gave him space to touch himself, never mind touch the football.

One of this Chelsea supporters great regrets was not being able to watch more of an injury free/injury spoiled Michael Essien.

An often forgotten one was Anelka's performance against Sunderland playing at the tip of the diamond. One of the most complete and perfect performances I have ever seen from a player

Very true, what made that performance very ironic is that he was awful for the whole of that season, apart from that game.

Not even close to his best performances!

He was better at the1998 WC Final, he was better at the 2001 UCL Final and he was better at the 1996 UCL Semi-Final...

Zidane himself said that game was the best he ever had.

His perfomance against Portugal at the Euro 2000 (semi final) was also fabulous.

He was in some form that whole season but particularly that month when we played united (I think it was away). Easily the best player in the league back then.

Indeed, really wish we'd have seen that more in his career because he was devastating!

Remember how he used to celebrate goals by indicating how many goals he had scored, by folding his arms and tucking them to his chest and raising his fingers accordingly. It was weird when he scored more than 10 in 09/10 and had to change  and that pass to Drogba for the 3rd goal vs Liverpool in the 1/4 finals!

Yeah, also thought about including him. he was so good, he made Ribery look like a schoolboy. Sadly it's very much the other way round now.

If we're talk non-Chelsea, remember when Zlatan won football?

meh only a friendly against an england side with Caulker in defense. It's like including Archie Thompson's 13 goals performance in that match vs American Samoa. Just too easy.

Are you kidding? That fourth goal was one of the best goals in history. Even the other goals were excellent goals that took great physical and technical skills. He was simply unplayable that day.

C'mon man. It was only against England. Don't get the fuss at all.
