We don't know. I would say he's probably around that level. He was an excellent striker 3 years ago but well, that was 3 years ago and he's now 31 and he's been playing in a bad league so, really who knows?. I view this like the Willian signing where it's more of a matter of getting a sort of player Mourinho wants for his system rather than getting an upgrade in talent.

eto'o can be considered top class at his prime, whether he still is we will find out soon enough... as to whether he's better than ba and lukaku, he's better than ba, period. For Lukaku, he's better than romelu at the moment imo but who knows how good the kid can become

I don't get why people are so agitated over a one year contract.

In fact I'm surprised Eto'o agreed to it. Surely he would have had better offers, so I'm happy he's coming with good intentions.

One of my favourite strikers in his prime. Just a monster! Haven't followed him at all since he moved to Russia but I'm going to hope for the best.

he is past it. winner or not. nobody cares what he has done 5 years or 3 years ago, the now matters. being a winner wont bring back his speed and dynamic he had once. i am quite sure that if Benitez would want this transfer, more people would be against it but now because of Mourinho everyone is praising him without even have watched a game from him since he joined Anzhi.

No. But we tried to sign Rooney, he fucked us around, probably to get a new deal. And now we do not have many other options. Anyway, this is just a stop-gap and we will re-assess the situation next summer, which is fine with me.
