He was so direct when he came on against Watford.  Didn't stop the ball and play with it for 30 seconds while everyone just stands around, like usual.  Got the ball, looked to play in a cross or pass to a team mate.  Would love to see that more often.

When he plays like that he is one of the best wingers out there. Unfortunately he doesn't want to/isn't able to (???) anymore.

Exactly. He didnt mess about by holding unto the ball for long without achieving anything with it. He tried to make something happen and also finally he crossed a ball in the air instead of that stupid low cross to the near post he does everytime even if he doesnt get any assist out of it.

Hopefully he improves for our sake.. We need every bit of our attacking power with our defending in shambles of late.

Up until his mum died I genuinely believed if you were to drop Willian off in the Barcelona team, he'd be amongst their top 4 players. Ronaldinho-like. It's amazing to consider that we see every game that he makes the same moves, with the same failures, and relatively same successes.

Maybe Barcelona and the likes of Messi would've taught him an entirely different side to his game. He was certainly incredible before he joined us, he really was.
This is a player who had twice the potential he now has. Not a tragedy, but he could've been really fun to watch, as you'd expect from a Brazilian with his strengths.

Thats exactly what he needs to do. Best thing is that he has the potential to play the direct game but the worst thing is that he goes back to the same slow painful momentum destroying game after showing a spark of this direct play.

Willian, Cesc and Cahill are past it. They must be sold in the summer.

To be past it you would have had to be in it from the start.

The stopovers nobody buys, and a few free kick goals during a terrible season does not make a good player.

Commentators still use phrases like "here comes Willian, he could change the game" Tells you they don't watch us enough.

I feel like they have cheat sheets.

Brazilian? Check

Winger? Check

Pace? Check

"Willian can change the game."

Oh. Another thing they always say to make Willian look good is that he was our Player of the Year in 2015/16.

He always turns out for Brazil tho Willian hasnt been the same player since Mourinho left the club

He's been decent/OK for Brazil.

Think this Brazilian side is a bit overrated at this moment. They have more than neymar this time, but still some mediocre players in the starting XI, such as William and fernandinho.

The head coach (Tite) is very good this time though, which is rare for brazil - usually nobodies (like Dunga) or has-beens (like Scolari) are the ones in charge.

Tite was the head coach of Corinthians when they beat Chelsea in the WCC - not a total accident btw, Benitez was super naive in that game.
