It's really a shame. An extremely talented player(and that's not an exaggeration by any means) let down by his brain in the final third.

This is not as big of a problem against bigger teams since he's much better than Pedro in transition, but against mid-bottom table sides Pedro should be starting.

Personally, I think it's just as much as of a problem in big games, especially when you consider that Conte likes to play on the counter against the big teams. Good counterattacking opportunities are rare against big teams so every single one needs to be executed to perfection, something Willian doesn't do well IMO. His understanding of picking the right pass in transition is really poor so his dribbling is the only weapon left which (when he's not in good form) can be just as shit as his decision-making as we've seen in the past few games.

The wingback option was just romanticism i think. Conte has never even named him as a possibility in that position and has tried every winger and fullback at the club bar him and Hazard at wingback since his arrival. There is clearly a very, very good reason he's never played at wingback.
